I just got an SNES classic a few months ago. Started Super Metroid. Really was enjoying it, until I got stuck in this cavern with these goblin guys. Apparently I have to walk jump back and forth three times, roll in a ball, set off a bomb, and time it perfectly to propel myself into this thin tunnel?

Anyway, I hear nothing but great things about this game. But this bit has absolutely ruined the experience for me. I've been stuck trying this repeatedly, multiple hours over multiple days, and I'm sick of it. I've read tips, watched tutorials, doesn't matter. I'm still stuck.

Anybody else have this problem? And more importantly, is there more of this future frustration coming because if so I'm just moving on. I'd post on the actual game board, but the only people there are experts who evidently haven't had this same difficulty. I'll gladly admit my reaction time and coordination are pretty awful, which doesn't help. But yeah, I haven't been this frustrated by a game possibly ever.

Huh. I don't think super Metroid ever required anything like that unless you were trying to be cool.

You don't have to do that part at all. It's completely optional. It's just there to teach you about walljumping. There's another optional place in Brinstar that teaches you how to shinespark.

i beat it a few months ago, but i used a walkthrough for a lot of it to try and 100% it. from what i remember you dont have to do any of the tech stuff to beat it. only to get all the secrets. i would look for a hidden route that you might be missing

Yeah it might not be so hard for some people. I'm going nuts trying it, and hearing it's not that hard isn't helping.

The trick is that you can't be right up against the wall - if you are the right distance Samus goes into a pose, that's when you press the button

Yeah, the timing is a bit different from other games.

Few tips:
1. Probably know this but you need at least a small run-up to be spinning during your jump, if Samus is vertical it won't work.
2. You'll "stick" to the wall AFTER pressing the opposite direction while touching the wall, that's when you jump.

if I recall you just press/tap away from the wall and then hit jump when you see her go into the right pose. but yes, it's not very easy to do. I think you might have to wait till you're falling for it to happen, can't remember 100%.

something like: jump, wait to begin descent, press away, press jump, repeat on opposite side

it's hard as fuck in that game in all the other games it's sooooo much easier but they never use it for anything

Just look up some tutorials honestly. I found some good ones for bomb jumping and short shinesparking (quick/short charge) last I played (when it arrived on 3DS) and learned them in about 20 minutes each.

Tips?
-Must be spinning (diagonal press. Up + Left/Right)
-Push the opposite direction as you reach the wall. You'll see either Samus' back or her face.
-Push jump just after pushing the opposite direction. Never at the same time.

i'm actually confused about your method. i get that it can be a frustrating technique if you're new to it but it was never anything that frustrating.

though if you really wanna go through that area for completion's sake you can just go get the gravity jump from maridia and come back later. i don't think there's any point in the game where the wall jump is absolutely necessary, it just makes certain things a lot easier to do earlier on if you know how to do it.

Just jump above it and curl into a ball while pressing right?

It's really not complicated. You have control of your ball while you're falling.

I thought it was hard at first but I learned that the timing is actually extremely lenient. As long as you don't press the directional button and the jump button at the same time, then you should get it.
