Current Events > Hidden gems on 3DS?

Wiki page has nearly 1300 games for the system but I can't be bothered to sift through all of those. If I could find a list of games which have an English localization (or a worthwhile translation patch) then maybe I'd check that. But I can't find one.

What are some unknown games you've found to be surprisingly good? I'm aware of the vast majority of the big-name titles.

Gotta Protectors was a lot of fun and I would presume it isn't very well known.

Etrian Odyssey series. It well known on the 3DS board but the general consumer and even general gamer is rather unwarranted of the series. IV is a pretty solid place to start. I can personally given a strong recomendation. Its inpsired by wizardy and old dungeon crawlers.

Go Go Kokopolo 3D. Its a chase em up it has very very few reviews but those that are there highly positive(I own it but havent played yet. The first one was pretty good though)

Culdcept Revolt. Think Monopoly/fortune street fused with a card game and a bit of dungeons and dragons. Or something like that. It has gotten really good reviews and several 3DS board regulars praise it to high hell.

Pocket card jockey. Its a weird ass hybrid of solitaire and horse racing that is very addicting apparently.

Picross E series. A series of well crafted nonogram puzzles.

Picross 3D. Like a Picross E game except maybe by Hal and its in 3D so the rules are different.

Tom Clancys Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. A solid if slightly generic TBS game. I rather enjoyed it and its easy to find super cheap.

Bit. trip Saga. A compilation of the Bit.Trip games from Wiiware. A bunch of odd rhythm/hybrid rhythm games.

Shinobi. A solid(if sometimes unfair) tough as nails Ninja Platformer.

Gunman Clive 1 and 2. Feel kinda like budget western Megaman. Both are great.

Legend of Dark Witch series. Also feels kinda like a budget Megaman game.

Gotta Protectors is a action tower(or rather princess) defense game. Its pretty crazy.

Ever Oasis, while given some time in the spotlight by Nintendo was quickly forgotten after release so if you haven't played it yet, you should.

For DS, Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past

It's similar to PhoenixWright/Hotel Dusk. Awesome game that doesn't get any love.

I really liked Code of Princess, but it's getting a deluxe Switch release this summer.

Gonna second picross series, dunno if you like puzzles but for $5 it's a great value.

If you like SRPGs Mercenaries Saga 2/3 (1 was never localized) is also a solid deal for $5. It's like a barebones FFTA, which isn't a bad thing.

I can probably think of a couple more later when I'm at home.

I checked this game out last night actually - the whole naming situation confused me at first. Harvest Moon is now Story of Seasons, but there's also another Harvest Moon series now that's similar in concept.

Guess it doesn't matter either way because I don't like HM regardless of the name. >-> But I appreciate the suggestion.

Whilst it IS the weakest version of the game, there is a 3ds port for Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (just called Splinter Cell 3d)

It was ridicolously cheap for me, and its not that long, but its still fun.

Crimson Shroud is great if you want a short but fun RPG with some D&D flavor. I'm still surprised I've never seen another game steal it's dice rolling mechanic.

Starship Defense originally for the DSi. Its like a tower defense Galaga. It gets very challenging 1/3rd of the way through the campaign and youll need to try different strategies.

By being a mess with more holes in the story than Swiss cheese. Music is great though.
