So I'm selling my place and looking to move into a home somewhere nearby/rent it.

Have some friends who want to do the same thing.

This one guy was buying a home for $360k and wanted 2 roomates. Initially he was asking $800 a room but that included utilities.

That was already pretty bad, he was basically looking for people to pay all of his expenses for living in his new home. My home is worth more, and the total cost with mortgage etc was about $1200 (before utilities). Even if his mortgage was a bit more, he still would only be paying at most $1400 a month...so getting everythign paid for by us.

He messaged me this morning saying that due to home owners associate fees and security costs, he would need $900 each lol. Dude would be making a freaking profit at that point, no way around it.

That would basically be $1800 a month he would be getting from the 2 other people living there, enough to pay off his mortgage, taxes, HoA, $300 a month in utilities and still get about $300 a month extra.

He be crazy, honestly don't think he's gonna find anyone interested, but I wouldn't be now even if he lowered the price to $700 tbh.

So many awesome deals in the area, wish I had done this before. Probably gonna go with a home, but apartments are super cheap 3 bed 2 bath, with heated pool, W/D in unit, fitness center etc, is only $1100, internet included as well (not sure on other utilities but they are usually low in apartments). Split between 3 people though that is like $400 each.

Sad thing is that he'll probably get away with it cause most people don't know what his actual costs are. There are quite a few rooms that go for $800, though I honestly have not seen one going for $900 yet lol.
