I don't mean intentionally, but he knew that Dorian was an "innocent" and hung to his every word, but still went on about ideas that he wasn't really about that eventually corrupted Dorian

Kind of. He was kind of twisted in his own way. He introduced Dorian to his philosophy and really just wanted to watch and see what Dorian did with it. Dorian's life was pretty much just entertainment to him. He knew that he corrupted Dorian, and he loved it.
