Walking up on a car with tinted out windows, multiple passengers, and a lot of movement at night is pretty nerve-wracking. Just because you know how to handle that situation, or what you're trained to do, doesn't mean you won't be nervous doing it. But, hesitating in a situation can get a cop killed. Getting called to a scene with a possibly armed suspect that escalated the encounter will make anyone nervous. That's obviously an anecdotal and extreme example, but it just illustrates the many flaws In our police training as well as the laws regarding when and how police are allowed to use their service weapons.
