Current Events > Anyone here try EMDR? (Therapy, not an obscure drug.)

I'm back in therapy again, after a failure of an attempt 5-ish years ago which yielded no worthwhile results because - erm - let's say I was tackling the wrong issue. This new therapist thinks I have PTSD from multiple events in my childhood and she said EMDR is something that could help me, in place of (or alongside) more conventional therapy.

I looked into it and, more than anything else, it just seems weird. But I'm not a therapist nor am I someone who has tried it, so I'm not willing to make a judgment call on it. I'm just wondering if anyone here has experience with it, and what they think.
