After submitting our tax returns in early February, by the end of February, the IRS asked for copies of W2s and proof of all deductions claimed for the past four tax years.
Now, two months later, the IRS sent us a letter saying they completed their checks, and they actually owe us from tax year 2014 and 2017, to a total of $1100. Well that was a total win. I like being soft-audited /blogfaqs --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

That's good you're getting your money. Too bad for the IRS, though, lol. Yea. I was stressing somewhat that we might have to pay more... I guess TurboTax errors in a conservative way! Hexenherz posted... So are audits fully random or do they do it with the intent of catching something. No idea.
