I've noticed that anytime anyone you haven't seen comes here, most people immediately accuse them of being alts. Like most of the time? Why is that?

I mean, he does do it a lot. But I've noticed other people seem to do it a good amount, too. I mean, new people do come to this board every once in a while. Anyone who votes is told to come here, even though they should probably redirect that link... Even when someone comes here with an account that was made over a decade ago, people always seem to call alt. First off, that one is most likely their main. Secondly, not many people made an alt 10+ years ago to mess with you... It's just weird...

and hey, posting a users account info isnt all bad. if somebody has an account made last week and they have a million posts, thats suspect. if somebody has an account with 50 karma, two posts and the account was made in 2004, thats also suspect.

its only suspect because nobody randomly new to this site just does these things.

Because this board has a serious problem with alts, many of which exist solely to pretend that a poster is somebody else. KBE, Carl, Ziggi, Helly, etc, have all had several accounts where they actively denied being themselves at one point or another (although KBE and Carl eventually came out -- granted, I'm taking accusers like Mead at their word that Jonesville is Ziggi because I can't recall if he ever self-ID'd). Honestly, when the idea of public usermaps was suggested as a possible change, I was overjoyed.

And there's nothing "to be scared of." The over-use of alts is just an aggravation. Even guys who aren't doing to deliberately create a new identity (like Chewy's SteamedHams account) just make shit more confusing. And this isn't anon, people like to associate a name with a post.

When there's a 10 year-old account with 100 karma and 1 active post on it, it looks suspicious to anybody except Far-Queue -_- I mean, there's trusting and then there's just plain gullible.

It was one of the suggestions during the board overhaul, but the admins shot the idea down (claiming that rule-breakers would just get around it and it might punish non-malicious posters who wanted to not associate themselves with something -- which is a flaky excuse). I probably should have clarified it as a *poster* suggestion.

And you've generally supported Helly's countless accusations against other people, which I'm guessing you're using for plausible deniability because when you level the accusation you can say, "Well, Helly said it first!" But, you know, that's just part of your whole Helly Squad shit.

That, of course, isn't even counting the score of other completely unfounded accusations you've thrown around like that claim I was stalking your wife. (Which, hypocritically enough, came right around the time you were searching my previously-changed username for no good reason and posting content you found in regards to it.)

Literally anything else can be a con, especially because alts will frequently try to mimic other posters' behaviors to imply that they're them. Unless you get a double-confession, you'll never get actual closure on an accusation.

Otherwise recognizing that something is a gimmick account, for instance, doesn't require figuring out who owns the account. For example, maybe all of the Olsen accounts (which followed the same routine) were actually just different people copying the same gimmick (ie, a handful of innocuous topics -- usually about movies -- before starting to get into foot fetish topics about minors then getting banned). However, at the end of the day, it's usually just easier to block them.

For the record, Link, when I thought you might have been somebody else, I had just assumed that you were a guy who had been around but your more active account got banned for whatever reason. I wasn't ascribing any malice to you and, in the time that you've been posting here, I've always considered you a good guy.
