At least Galaxy 2 has good level design. Odysseys level design is mediocre at best.

the Galaxy games didn't really feel like they gave you much room to go fast, though I haven't played them for a while so maybe you can

only things from the Galaxy duology I like though are the Flight Star in the first and the design of Cloud Mario in the second

thinking about it I wish Odyssey just had power-ups instead of Capture, I'd rather the game let you expand on the moveset than give you something entirely different, and also let you actually take them wherever if you want like in the 2D games and 3D _____, and no stupid time limits or weaknesses like in Galaxy or 64

You can argue that it's worse than Galaxy 1 and 2, but it's definitely better than 3D World and Sunshine....and yes even 64 if you stop nostalging hard and rate that game objectively.

I dunno man I think Sunshine has it beat in presentation and I can dig it more than Odyssey on leisurely play

also something that bothers me about Odyssey that just popped in mind, you got all these neat costumes but Cappy doesn't stay in the current costume hat look when you capture enemies or quick travel or a couple other things, it's pretty lame

but every 3d mario is immensely more entertaining when you're going fast and using inventive movement

Odyssey requires it to be fun unlike 64 and Sunshine, it is possibly the most fun when you stop giving a fuck though, which is much better than I felt about the game after the first shot I gave it
