I don't have time to get invested in 2 different MMORPGs, so I have to chose one.

I've heard nothing but good things about GW2, but ESO has that Summerset expansion coming soon. I heard nothing but good things about the Morrowind expansion. That Summerset shit looks dope as hell.

Here are a couple quotes from another topic I made that might help you decide which path to guide me towards.

I'm usually a guy who plays single player games. So I'm looking for an immersive experience that will make me feel like I'm sucked into a real, breathing world, but the people I'm interacting with will have real intelligence instead of artificial intelligence.

TBH, I'm not necessarily in it for the story. Interactivity with players and environment is most important for me. Not that having a great story would be a deterrent, but I'd like a game that doesn't keep making me feel like I'm the chosen one, when every single other player in the game was also told they are the chosen one as well, you know what I mean? Kinda kills the immersion. While a good story and all that is cool, an interactivity-driven game is higher on my priority list.

GW2. both of these are top notch in the game. ESO is more single player esque with how the quests and world are setup, but player interaction was minimal from my experience.
the fashion is also much better, which is really what MMOs are all about.

I was enjoying ESO up until they had me going from one province to another for different quests and I started to feel like it was making me spread thin.

GW2 was okay from what I played. I didn't get to play far into it though, it just seemed like a little bit of repetition that'd get old fast though

I did too when it was first released. People are now saying it's a contender for the best MMORPG, with all the added content.

Guild Wars 2 is worth a shot, you can play the entire base game for free now to see if you like it.

Playable may not be "good" you'll be downloading a lot as you play and it may take a bit. Also with GW2's installer the percent and meter mean nothing it's the number of files remaining. Since if you pause it and restart later or something it will look like it starts over but it does not.

I had a lot of fun with GW2 over the years. Never bought any expansions or anything, but there was usually something to do, like mapping or boss cycles or whatever.

Yeah I usually like the elven type races on games like this. I already had chosen them just based on their description. After I went further and saw that they were basically wood elves, I knew I made the right choice.

But damn, my dude looks so shitty when hes not glowing. I may need to go ahead and delete this guy for a new one that looks better during the day time.

I've played GW2 for the first 2 years it came out, absolutely loved it. I hear nothing but great things about it since I've left, but a lot of content is seasonal and many cosmetics are obtained within a limited time. If you don't mind that stuff then you'll fall in love with the game.

On second thought, my toon looks pretty awesome even without the glow. He was just wearing ugly clothes. Need to get to level 6 so I can re-dye them.

I bought ESO on impulse when it came out on consoles and loved the hell out of it for the first two months. Ended up stopping because areas were pretty strongly level-restrictive.

Went back to it about a year ago and noticed that they changed a lot of things for the better (One Tamriel update). For example, areas were no longer faction-locked, enemies scale to your level (so you can travel much more freely), and you can buy/decorate houses. My fiancee and I actually just got back into it last week since we just got the Morrowind DLC.

I think most of the criticisms ESO had in the past have been addressed and improved by now. The quests are still boring, but that's to be expected with any MMO.

As you collect armors and weapons you'll unlock their skins in your wardrobe. As long as you have transmutation charges you can freely swap skins in that panel on all of your gear. Once you unlock something on your account like an armor or weapon skin it's unlocked for the entire account.

Same goes for cash shop skins if you ever get into the game enough to use that. Transmutation Charges eventually will build up to an insane amount so I wouldn't worry too much about saving them though I wouldn't use them on early armors anyway. NEVER buy them from the shop, you'll get more than enough through gameplay and daily rewards etc.

Also they changed how "worlds" work so in PvE it really doesn't matter what server you chose you can play together. It only really matters for World vs World currently.

added yuh
one habit to get into is using salvage kits and scrapping more or less all item drops that aren't an upgrade on what you have equipped. the materials you get can be banked straight from your inventory from anywhere which saves space and gives you a decent amount to work with if/when you decide to craft.

Lololol! Thats the first time Ive ever called it that. I always thought it sounded weird when other people said it as well, but I didnt know it was a blocking offense. Haha

The GW2 expansions are easily worth if you like the base game.

Heart of Thorns adds giant maps with meta events on a cycle that lead up to huge world bosses, and it takes the whole map's worth of people fully complete them and maximize rewards. Plus it is much more challenging in general. You actually have to pay attention to enemy animations.

Path of Flames adds mounts that look and handle fantastically. I mean look at this guy.

My problem with gw2 is that the progression felt empty. You get pretty much all your skills really early and everything scales so you never feel like you're getting stronger.

This forest is one of the most beautiful places ive seen in a video game. My only complaint so far is how stale and repetitive the quests feel. Like there was one where I had to infiltrate the Nightmare Court and they made it sound like it was going to be some sort of stealth quest or something. Problem is, it felt just like every other quest I had done so far in the game. Thats probably a problem with all MMOs though.

Lololol! Thats the first time Ive ever called it that. I always thought it sounded weird when other people said it as well, but I didnt know it was a blocking offense. Haha
