it was probably one of their better episodes, but you may want to pump the brakes there on the "all-timer" type shit
still struggling to decide whether i really like this show or not
they do so many things to purposefully obfuscate the narrative with timelines, i find it disappointing like maybe they don't have faith in the writing to carry the story so they give you like four timelines in one episode and call it clever

I only saw the first season and I gave up on the show because the storytelling seemed like it was purposefully convoluted. That and I can't care about a robot no matter how much you try and make it simulate a real human. The moment I know it's a robot I will never play into a storyline of bad guys raping robots, you cant rape a robot, its a technologically advanced sex toy.

You may want to pump the brakes on telling others to pump the brakes on liking something because you arent personally able to follow it tbh.

This season hasnt been hard to follow at all imo outside of Bernards stuff, where I feel like I know exactly what Im supposed to know at this point with more info forthcoming. Last night had a pretty clear cut timeline.

Its, on the surface level, about an Old West theme park where theyve successfully made androids that are believable and lifelike enough that you can truly live out whatever fantasy you want. They all have programmed narratives but can live or die or go slightly off script with a certain range, and the guests can do whatever they want (the androids physically cannot hurt the human guests). Once an android dies, theyre taken backstage, fixed up, rebooted, and it continues. Some guests just wanna play cowboy and some are true sickos. Theres a lot more going on than that, but the surface level is are there moral ramifications for subjecting artificial life to the whims of guests ad infinitum?

If youre of the mindset that AI ethics are just not a thing and youll never be open to giving a shit about them then admittedly it wont do much for you though

Thats always such a gray area and I love mediums that explore it. If you have a programmed backstory, emotions, and make autonomous decisions informed by your memories, how different are you from a human? Is it just the notion of the soul?

I find it fascinating when done well.

Dolores is still pretty much just acting out a one-dimensional villain narrative written for her. She's following the Wyatt story we got from Teddy in S1 almost verbatim.

She's angry and vengence-filled. So she is expressing it the only way she knows how, through one of her angry, murderous stories. Delores is sentient now, she thinks on her own and no longer has to follow programming. But like any person, her personality is based on her memories and what she knows. So she defaults to Wyatt-like actions.

Her and Maeve IMO. I don't think anyone else is sentinent yet aside from Maeve. Benard is possibly getting there but he's still all over the place. Teddy might get there IMO. Dolores is almost assuredly to be on another loop.

I think MiB might be a host too TBH but I'm really hoping he's not.

Both Dolores and Maeve were programmed into their characters. Maeve's esape plot from season 1 was Ford's design.
Same goes for Teddy letting those Confederados go. In s1, he always talked about how stopping Wyatt was his ultimate goal.

I guess it will be about that other human-host Bernard mentions at the end of e4.

Ive got the other brain as belonging to

-Ford
-William
-Arnold

Ford is the obvious answer, maybe too obvious, but would allow him to have survived the stunt at the end of S1

William would be a mindfuck, but perhaps the one were seeing is being put through these games to try to break the cognitive plateau

Arnold doesnt have quite as much indicating it, but itd be fun if the confused as fuck Bernard on the beach was actually Arnold

I don't think it's Ford. He was basically a God and he could've smuggled it out easily.
I don't think it's William, either. He could've also smuggled it out because he owns the park.

Delos is trying to get it out, so Ford isn't an option because they hated him.
It could actually be Arnold.
Can't find the image right now, but there was a screenshot of Charlotte standing next to three Bernards that weren't online, so those could've been used for testing.
But then, nobody from Delos knows about Arnold.

The scene where Ed Harris goes fucking nuts on those dudes is probably the best scene in the whole show. What a God damn ride.

Also my theory for Delores and Mauve, and Bernard:
Delores is far from being sentient. She is playing Wyatt as Ford intended. Mauve is closer to breaking her chains but she's still not sentient either. I think the first one that will become fully sentient will be Bernard and he'll decide what to do with those brains.

and as far as the spoiler stuff

I agree that the likely choices are Ford, Arnold, and William. I think Ford would be great for more Hopkins, but I think it doesn't fit his character "become music" and all that
William would be a nice reflection, allowing him to face himself
Arnold is what I'm really thinking though. He likes hosts more than people and Ford took ~35 years to come around to his view. what better gift for Ford to give than to grant him the ability to become a host

Not if hes a human/host like Delos, aka more of a clone than a host. That would still be him, or at least a version of him, making good on a redemption arc when he couldnt in life.
