SMRPG by far, before they simplified the vast majority of the "rpg" parts.

Paper Mario > SMRPG > TTYD > M&L
My problem with M&L is that traveling in the overworld is way too tedious. You have to stop every few steps to do some annoying "team up" move. TTYD added unnecessary tedium too, along with stupid amounts of backtracking, but at least the story was good. ... Copied to Clipboard!

SMRPG by far, before they simplified the vast majority of the "rpg" parts. eh, SMRPG has a more traditional battle system but I wouldn't say it's more complex or deeper than Paper Mario --- It's one more thing we do to the poor, the deprived: cut out their tongues . . . allow them a language as lousy as their lives ...
