Even for the people who continue to play the latest Pokemon games, many of them have stopped watching the anime a long time ago. Team Rocket has been in every season of the anime up to this point. While there are occasionally episodes where Team Rocket does not appear at all, more than 90% of the episodes feature Team Rocket in some form or another. This is the current Gen 7 line-up for Team Rocket's Pokemon: James - Mareanie Jessie - Wobbuffet, Mimikyu Plus, Meowth is still with Team Rocket in the Gen 7 anime. They are also traveling with a Bewear, although they don't technically own the Bewear. The usual gimmick of Team Rocket blasting off when they are defeated was replaced in Gen 7 with a Bewear hauling them off.
