If you can't hear Laurel, go to 2:16, play it at half speed

I can 100% hear Laurel if I do that. And now having done that once I can actually hear it "correctly" at any speed

Still usually hear Yanny though in the original clip/the top half of the signal at any speed. But anyone who can't hear laurel (or yanny, probably, just go to the point a little after where he highlights the top) should try that.

i actually still can't hear the Yanny part in that video clearly at all. very muffled for me and sounds more like... ee-eny or gyenny?

Yeah I think the guy you linked split them too high. So the laurel clip still had the bottom half of the yanny in it, so people who can't hear laurel to begin with are still hearing yanny. Guy had the right theory but as a clear laurel camp guy (it doesn't "clearly" say either one that's why people hear both) he had poor execution.

Try listening to the clip I linked at half speed in the yanny part. I figure you'll probably hear yanny clearly then? That's how I was able to hear laurel the first time at least.

playing it at half speed does make the y more clear but it disrupts the n, makes it sound more like Yary, with a rolling R. and either way it's super quiet compared to everything else (guessing that's not the case for the people who hear Yanny by default).

I can actually hear both of them in the same sound bite now. It's like... Yaurel.

Having heard each side once really helps because you can repeat how it sounds in your head while listening to it.

As someone that hears both... no? It has two distinct words, they don't mesh.

At first all I heard was Yammy, and I replayed it several times. Someone in the comments said at lower volume it sounded like Laurel, so I lowered the volume, and it did. Now I hear Laurel no matter what volume it is. The pitch is much deeper than when it says Yammy, too.

What sorcery is this?

What I'm saying is they're overlaid on top of another and Laurel dominates the tail end of it, and Yanny starts a hair before the Laurel. Like yeah I can hear both of them overlaid but if you were to ask me a single word it was saying when I can hear both I'd say it's Yaurel.

The actual shoe is pink and white but the image has been altered to show grey and teal, which is what I see. Others still see pink and white somehow though. I only ever saw white and gold with the dress as well.

And the sound clip is definitely saying laurel, I can't hear yanny at all.

I recorded myself saying Laurel directly over the recording to play it for my Yanny-hearing friend, and he still heard Yanny.

Then he reopened the original without my voice and heard Laurel and started freaking out, saying it had to be a trick, it must be a practical joke, etc.

10 minutes later he was hearing Yanny again and lost his mind.

At first, I can only hear yanny. But if I slow down the speed to 50% on the first video, I can hear laurel.
Now, after playing it multiple times at normal speed again, I can definitely hear both.
It kinda sounds like 2 different people speaking at the same time.
The one saying yanny has a higher pitch voice. And the one saying laurel has a deep guttural voice.

It's totally Laurel, but from watching Xuxon's video, I was able to hear the Yanny when the guy separated the sounds. After that I can kinda hear a quiet robotic sounding anny after the Laurel. Like a Laurelny.
