Try thinking critically for a second. Those religions don't actually support that shit, at least within Judaism and Christianity.

maybe the problem is just those 3 religions. pagans didn't used to have many holy wars. when the world accepted that all gods exist, people were like "eh, whatever man. you have your gods I have mine"

Civilisations never would have formed if it weren't for some sort of deity worship.

this too. supposedly religion is what helped form the first cities. the cities were built for people to gather for worship. probably the first cities began as temples and then the rest of the city built up around it

I seriously doubt they never would have formed without it. That's being totally ignorant of the social nature of our species.

None of it supported by the actual teachings, just by the extremely powerful papacy that did whatever it wanted without regard for the commands given by Jesus.

With the exception of the battles in self defense, none of it was sanctioned.

i never understood how Atheists could not be concerned about the possibility of being wrong, and suffering an eternity of torture. Actually i can understand that, and you should open your mind more too. Some people need religion, end of story. And we say religion is good for humanity because we HAVE to. What else would a god-fearing person say?
Sheesh.

I can't believe someone can look at the Soviet Union, Khmer Rouge, and say with a straight face Atheism is good for humanity.

Atheists arguably commited the first "modern" genocide (I say arguably as it actually is a debate)

People kill each other for inane reasons and would have done so without religion.

Church going people have been noted to be more friendly, charitable, and more supportive of their community, it can lead to good things too.

This argument is especially idiotic, take it from me the man who can count his visits to any religious organization on his fingers (although with a great deal more diversity than one would expect) and is agnostic.
