There's only one part in the movies, that I recall, that even remotely mentions it. Someone says something about thor being a god, and cap says something like (I'm paraphrasing) "There's only one god, mam. And he doesn't look anything like that.".

Considering he is Captian America, and born in the 20th century, it can be deduced as to which religion he is referring to.

I do think it's dumb to have part of a character's identity based on their religion. Nothing wrong with a religious character or a character who is part of the Islamic faith, but to phrase it as a "Muslim superhero" seems dumb. I think the real problem is that people still associate someone from the Middle East as being Muslim by default. Unless she is a white/black/other ethnicity Muslim, not too familiar with it. It's like making a big deal about a Jewish superhero or Buddhist superhero. There is no need to shout to the world how inclusive they are.

Is she just a practicing Muslim who goes about her day without any major references to the religion outside of particular plot-relevant moments like it should be with a comic book, or is this the kind of overly preachy narrative where her faith is actually worked into the story 24/7? There is nothing at all wrong with the former, but the latter is where things get dumb if it's one of these newer Marvel writers. One is writing about a person who happens to be Muslim, while the other is whole "annoying SJW" bunk that people bitch about.

She's a character who just happens to be Muslim. It's not something that makes up her entire person. Kamala Kahn is one of the best newer Marvel characters in a while because she's just cool all around.

also she's not that new. she was invented like 5 years ago. it's just all these causal people who don't read the comics had no idea cause until it's in the MCU they don't know about it. hell most people just found out about Carol Danvers but she was invented in like the 70's

Her family is pretty devout and she has strong ties to them, goes to church/mass/whatever the Islamic one is called, but overall her religion is only overt with select supporting cast.

It doesn't beat you over the head with it. Honestly I think it's refreshing, as a Christian, to see a practicing religious character. To have that religion be important to the character and their characterization, yet not take over the narrative and become preachy.

The single worst issue in the series wasnt even religious. It was a boring "go vote" special. Other than that the series is gold.

Kamala is raised Muslim with her family but she's actually not that devout. not compared to her older brother who is even more devout than their parents. the only major thing she does is she won't eat pork even though it tempts her and she smells it in shops and drools over it

I know. but what I am saying is most of the MCU viewers never heard of her in any form until she was announced for the movie

comic reading is a minority now these days and the vast majority of the people who watch the movies don't read the comics. and people often do not know anything about the plots or characters until it's adapted in a movie or tv show

oh and the first part about "she's not that new" was referring to Kamala. I then shifted to mentioning Carol but I didn't make it clear.

I remember my first exposure to her was the 90s X-Men cartoon when they did the segment on Rogue's backstory.

I've always been vaguely interested ever since and I love it when she's playable in games like MUA.
