Makes sense. Very few elected officials actually care about the wishes of the people. They want money and re-election. Because politicians weren't groomed properly to wield authority responsibly like the Hohenzollerns or other worthy leaders, they abuse any amount of power the moment they taste it. In many cases, representative governments are nothing more than a nest of parasites.

Unbiased poll aggregators such as Nate Silver had Trump at a 28.6% chance of winning, which wasnt unreasonable. Nearly all of the swing states had to break his way, and thats what happened. The outcome certainly doesnt invalidate the science of statistics, no matter how much you wish it would have.
