Personally, Im busier on the weekends than I am on the weekdays. My days off are usually Monday and Tuesday.

And either way video games are not movies. Theyre gonna sell no matter what day they come out

At a restaurant. Weekends are the busiest days, so I need to be there

Its because DVD, Bluray, CD and video game sales are tracked by SoundScan, a company that compiles sales data on these items. Theyre like Nielson TV ratings, except for music, movie and video game sales. In fact, SoundScan is even owned by Nielson.

They measure the number of weekly sales starting on Tuesday through to the following Monday. Publishers release new items on Tuesday so the first week of sales data is seven days; that means sales from that week can be compared to sales data from following weeks in an accurate way.

Why would you start sale on the weekend? If you sell on a weekday, you can stagger hardcore and normal sales and restock if necessary.

I fucking HATE the "should be before the weekend" argument. With the amount of people who do online shopping, it'd be stupid. The store has it on a Tuesday, you get it shipped through Prime on a Tuesday, everyone has it by the weekend. It launches on a Friday, only the whiners with no self-control prosper.

People can actually be pretty busy on weekends. So, some people actually like that games come out in thenifdlenof the week. Also, it could have something to do with delivery days. Maybe. I remember a lot of stores have delivery day on Tuesday. Which is when a bunch of new games were coming out. Maybe. But why does it matter. People will usually buy them on whatever day they come out. And play it when they have time...

something about fiscal weeks starting at a certain point and wanting the weekly reports to look as big as possible by giving people more days to purchase the game.

Also, if a game releases on a tuesday, it'll still be available on the friday that you want, it's not a big deal to wait a few days to just buy it after it releases.
