Yes, the Greatest Visual Novel Ever Made 'The House In Fata Morgana''s follow up VN released this week. I know I'm very excited to try it out when I find the time to this weekend. I knew about what main story of this follow up was, but what I didn't know was that there additional substories in this including ones with The One The Only Michel "The Main Man" Bollinger

A physical copy of Fata Morgana also went up for sale yesterday on MangaGamer's website, if you're the type of person who buys physical copies of PC games.

I'm not, but I kind of want to throw more money at them, anyway.

Oh, I guess I'll get it then?

I was hesitant because Jacopo sucks, but extra stories should justify it.

If you're curious about the side episodes, from reviews I've seen some of them are a story from a beggar's perspective who encounters Michel after he's in the mansion but before Giselle shows up, and one about Michel and Giselle's first date in the present (which I would could only take to mean this happens after the very ending of the first game?).

Played some today. It's good for the most part, but I'm left with a feeling that I thought I would have when I first heard about this one: I feel like this section of the story was already well-trodden ground in the original Fata Morgana and I'm not sure if expanding it out into its own game is going to be worth it. I don't know how long it is, but I am guessing it's quite shorting than the original game which is good. The opening is uncomfortable, and I'm not sure that I'm going to like how the Jacopo/Morgana relationship is framed. I'm saving the sub episodes until after I beat the main one.

For anyone curious, I finished Part 1 and am into the Interlude

I'm not sure what to make of my feelings so far. Definitely good, but it really does have this feeling of "uneeded retread". But I don't want to say no to more Fata Morgana, so it's complicated. I really don't know where this goes from here. Or rather, I DO know where this goes from here and I'm unsure how the VN will make it interesting. Part 1 covers up to Jacopo's revolution and him killing Branier. Morgana's time at the brothel, while already told in the first game, still at least had enough holes and covered enough time that more elaboration could be done. But from here? Jacopo's story of becoming the Lord could be interesting, but I don't know how telling Morgana's story again for like the fourth(?) time could be fun. And one of the preview images on the steam page shows her talking to Mell so it's definitely coming up again.

Jacopo and Morgana's almost-romantic-relationship is still pretty weird, if I have to be honest.

Ceren's also weird. It's this thing that pops up prequels, where you have this important character show up but somehow isn't mentioned in the future. And she has a big enough impact on Jacopo and Morgana that one of them would have brought her up, I think. But that's just something you have to deal with, otherwise you'd end up with nothing new at all here.
