Apparently it is relatively short. But, yes certainly seems long. Might have to do with being like fuck all to do, so just feels a slog. Linear as sin, no minigame or whatever to break the monotony. Certainly not a norm for RPGs IMO.

Amazing art tho & the music. Cel-shaded tends to stand the test of time & I am a sucker for vibrant colors.

What is this Eternal Sonata game? Should I try it?

An JRPG. Telling a story of a girl & Frederik Francois Chopin's final moments in another world... etc. I'm so out of the story & it isn't particularly fast at it.

Maybe, should be cheap nowadays. But I wouldn't suggest the x360 version. It was later ported & enhanced for the PS3 at some point after release. Added cutscenes, fixes involving story, balancing in stats, EXP gain, etc. & a few extras. I don't own the PS3 version so I couldn't tell you if that is worth it.

Damn I never completed this game. Got stuck at a boss near the end where You had to attack the two things at the same time to bring it down Think its literally one of the last bosses.

How was that game? LAst time I played I got to RITARDANDO for the second time and save file got corrupted.

I never finished it, but it was fun for a while. I got bored cause it felt like I was doing the same thing every battle, which was attack until my turn ended and squeeze out a special attack at the last second. Also, they kept lowering the time you had to perform attacks and that got me kinda mad. I will eventually re-play and finally beat it, but not anytime soon. There is plenty to like about it though.

A lot of people seem divided on Eternal Sonata, especially the ending. I thought it was pretty unique. It's written like it's meant to delve into Chopin's mind, trying to express ideas or thoughts he might have had while he was alive. The devs try to explore these ideas that the actual Chopin might have had, through characters, plotline, and dialogue. It's a bit abstract, but after playing it twice, I think it's an interesting take on storytelling, and I also think a lot of it went over people's heads just because of how it was done.

And the game is actually fairly short for an RPG. I think my first playthrough was around 25 hours. Definitely worth playing if you get the chance.

I remember the first three bosses being a huge pain and everything after that being easy. It's been years since I played the game and it was the only game I played on an Xbox360 that I borrowed...because someone gave me the game even though I didn't own the system!

I seem to recall it being a fun game, but there was little reason to use anyone besides the immortal characters. Reading their memories was one of the best parts.
