I have a Note 8 if that matters.

Everytime I see something interesting on my phone. Via text or some random page. And I wanna learn more about it, I start typing it on Google.

I just type the first two letters and Google has already guessed what I wanted to go to.

Or even in conversation. For example, someone tells me about a current movie or game to check out. I type in the first letter and it immediately guessed it.

Is it convenience? Or just plain creepy?

Yeah I know that. But I've never typed it before.

everyone thinks this because they think they are some unique snowflake. truth is, the week before, a billion people have had the same boring conversation you've had. so they've already googled it and it's trending, allowing google to accurately predict your boring conversation. ie, if a new game is about to be released, you really think you're the first person to really think about it's release date? a billion people have already had that conversation and googled it. think of it as "trending".

*tinfoil hat*

I still think my friend's phone is listening in on our in-person conversations.

We'll be talking about something like Subway and next thing you know there's ads for Subway on various apps. This has happened so many times not to seem like just a coincidence.

What? I just researched more on it and my Note 8 does actually actively listen to help with searches.

It has an AI called Bixby.

But thanks for that analysis.

There is a reason cell phones aren't allowed in certain military and other facilities. They can be activated remotely (hacked) and used as listening devices without the owner's knowledge. So it's not really a "tin-foil conspiracy" issue. And it's not so far-fetched that they could be used in a similar way by the cell phone companies or others.
