The murder of Amber Creek happened a town over from me it was a cold case for a long time. A guy I worked with was good friends with her. Glad he got some closure when they cought the guy a few years ago. Gayce also.

The biggest one from my childhood, for me, was Westley Allan Dodd since I lived in his hunting area and was a prime victim for him

But The Green River Killer, The I-5, Bobby Jack Fowler, DB Cooper landed here, The Happy Face Killer, Robert Lee Yates Jr., Ted Bundy just a few miles north, Jerome Henry Brudos, Ward Weaver III (Ashley Ponds, if you need to be reminded), and two school shootings

And that's just the ones a FEW of the ones we've just caught, not the ones that are still open like all the National Forest murders.

This may seem an unlikely story but I swear it happened. My bus driver in 3rd grade was murdered by her bf the summer going into 4th grade. I spent nearly every morning alone with her because she dropped off the rest of the kids at a different school than me and then took me to my school. We obviously talked a lot. Now what was weird and has stuck with me years later is two things I said to her while knowing her. One was asking her what heaven was like to which she responded "I dont know Ive never been there" and the second was after she told me about her bf I asked if she trusted him to which she said "of course" and for some reason Idk why I said I dont trust anyone they could be a murderer.

They made a Dateline special about this murder that happened locally. The creepy part is that I knew the killer and had seen him with his family at church 5 days before the murder.

One of my coworkers at the time had a second job in Westroads, but not at Von Maur. He wasn't working there that day, though.

Another of my coworkers knew the shooter. I think they had been friends, but I'm not sure they were at the time of the shooting. You could tell it hit him hard though...he didn't talk to anyone at work for a week after. Just showed up, did his job, and went home. He seemed like a ghost through all that. Shock and grief, I'm sure.

Grew up in Boston without being specific. Whitey Bulger should cover it. There was also a shoot out in a 99 that was pretty notable where a hitman walked in and opened fire at lunch time on a booth full of gangsters.

No noteworthy ones that I can find (not that I'm searching that intensely) but a few years back it had the distinction of having one of the highest rates of rape in the country - 6th, I believe. Sexual assault and meth are apparently the two big activities there.

John Dillinger's gang murdered our sheriff and I think another officer when they broke him out of our jail... my great grandma was on the jury when he was convicted.

We got some national attention for a woman being shot by police.

All those shows run together, but there was a Dateline or 20/20 or whatever about a doctor that poisoned his wife with carbon monoxide.

Also had a girl go off her meds and murder and cut up and cook her little sister that got some national attention. >_>

A guy was always suspected of kidnapping a girl, was in jail for something else, said he was going to confess and say what happened to the girl, but killed himself, and eventually her body was found when his house was torn down, that one got some national attention as well.

Story 1:

I didn't know about the situation, but when I was 8 or a girl in my neighborhood around my age lived with her dad and sister. They kind of disappeared for a while then moved back.

Years later I found out that their mother had vanished and was presumed murdered. I still don't know if their initial moving away had anything to do with it, but the girl didn't know about it at the time either.

Story 2:

My grandma's cousin's daughter was working at a family gas station when what I believe was two unidentified men robbed the register and murdered her, leaving the body in a secluded area a few miles away. It's still unsolved.

Really dark story, happened a year or so before I was born. The personally insane part about it is that I knew absolutely nothing about it until years later when my mom mentioned it in passing while telling an infinitely less interesting story.

@Solid_Snake07 well my buddy didnt kill her so its not like he knows anymore details about what went down. I was talking more along the lines of who she was as a person. Like they werent just kids that went to the same school like they were close friends like they had fooled around together even. Essentially he told me more in depth how troubled she was. He said he can still remember the way she laughed and even smelled. It added a human element that makes it even more depressing.
