I usually wont before 8am but the noise ordinance in my city says you can start at 7am.

Why is it always morning though? Once you've figured out how long it takes, just subtract it from sunset with a bit of padding.

For me cause its just get it done ASAP. Im far more likely to procrastinate if I say Im going to do it at 6pm instead of 8am.

I dunno if it's a legal thing or just common courtesy but when I used to do loud outdoor work, if it was in a neighborhood, we weren't allowed to use any loud machines before 8AM.

Probably not common courtesy, if I had to guess. The boss had us do all kinds of stuff where we were like "the residents might not like this" and it was always "they don't have to like it."

Generally if you do it before ~10am the dew is still on the lawn and it causes the grass trimming to clump together.
