Like if some random unknown guy made a seriously sick painting, would they be able to sell it for shitloads the same way an established artist would?

I know art is heavily subjective by its nature

But the idea that somebody could create something on par with an established artist who sold it for millions and not even be able to get a penny for it

Bonkers

Truth and art are subject to change. What could be considered a contemporary masterpiece today might not hold up after a few generations or decades.
There is also the possibility that art that has been revered for centuries could suddenly lose thier value as society changes.
