Im pissed about the direction they are going in. The series was so damn good and the direction so far in season 2 is rage inducing. Its like they gave the walking deads writers a shot at the show.

I don't agree. The hosts, especially Bernard and Maeve, have been compelling characters.
The only one I don't care for is Dolores, but I think that's the point.

Whether they're human or not is besides the point. Especially for a show about consciousness, why would it matter if they are artificial?

I couldn't get into season one for just that reason I simply cannot care about a robot, no matter what anyone does to this robot or how much this robot is made to appear or act like a human its still a technologically advanced toaster to me.

I like the first two except for the recent thing about one of them but Dolores is ruining the show for me hardcore. Her way of compelling and controlling the other hosts is literally what the humans did to them while she is claiming to want to break those chains for the hosts. The constant we can only win if you let me lead while corrupting hosts who still behave within in their narrative is also annoying as fuck. Then what she is doing to Teddy because hes thinking for himself is awful. To top it all off, the constant attempt to sound like Clint Eastwood when she talks drives me insane. Oh and Maeve having robot psychic powers is also horse shit.

Right!? I see people complaining about this on the Westworld subreddit and I just don't get it. Do people complain about aliens in Star Trek and go, "Why do I care if Worf/Spock/Jadzia/etc. suffer? They're not human."

It's just weird. They're all fictional characters. Whether they're human, aliens, robots, demons, etc. they all can be capable of caring about.
I think it's an emotional intelligence thing. If you're not naturally empathetic or used to looking at things from a different point of view, you won't see robots as something to care about.

Like you said, for a show that's about gaining sapience and having the idea of "what is consciousness?" as the central theme to the show so far, why would you enjoy season 1 and then just give up in season 2?

Especially after the banger of an episode that was episode 4. That's not just the best episode of the show, it's one of the best episodes of any show of all time.

Oh, I agree. she's my least favorite character right now
I get that that's the point. she has Wyatt in her head causing two different narratives along with her sentience that are causing all kinds of effects
but it's just boring to watch. but hey, at least Abernathy's actor is a fucking goldmine to make it worth it through the slog that was episode 3

I get why people dislike it, but given that we know the hosts are connected wirelessly via the mesh network and that Maeve could use voice commands to control the hosts, it makes sense

Bernard was always a more interesting character than Ford
it's just that Ford is played by Anthony Hopkins so you're more drawn in, due to him being one of the best actors

It honestly sucks, actually. It's a good show that has some great moments, but people are getting fixated on Hopkins and the lack of humans.
