Is society being held back by people in power that are so old, they can't let go of the past, and are holding back the inevitable future?

I for one don't want a judge/prime minister or president in their 70s trying to hold on to values that are so outdated, that it's holding back forward thinking and great ideas for the future. It's not what you know, it's who you know.
