Yes, you're fooling innocent websites into collecting incorrect location data on its visitors

The correct way to go about watching things which are blocked in your country is a simple google search away

No it's not morally wrong and as a matter of fact I strongly encourage it in some cases for example a great deal of the world is closed off to China without vpns, not just YouTube.

Literally download something, choose where you want to login from and hit connect in my experience cyndaquil.

Alright but I have to download some client, or is it a plugin for browser or something?

Both. Most people just use a browser plugin.

usually you download a vpn client. there are free ones but the best ones are paid
then its a matter of selecting which country to you to "connect to". tunnel bear gives you a nice world map, others give you dropdown lists, etc. its usually like 2-3 clicks once youve paid for a decent vpn and installed their client

In what way are the ones you pay for better? Like, what is it that's better about them?

paid vpns are usually larger companies with better servers that can give you better experiences over the vpn. or maybe the free one limits you to a certain amount of bandwidth or something.

Free ones are going to try and stick worms on your PC. There is no "well maybe this one is safe" it's a guarantee. Don't use a free VPN. Ever.

There are some free VPNs that work. Hola works pretty well (although im 100% sure they sell your data), and didnt the Oprah browser implement a free built in vpn? Although they probably sell your data too.

But yeah, paid VPNs are far superior, and they cheap as chips.

Netflix and such is kind of a grey area. If a production company/distributor/whatever listened it with Netflix for [specific countries] bypassing it to access it is kind of sketchy imo, especially since Netflix has no additional revenue stream like ads to sort of balance it out like if you use a VPN for a YouTube video it can still play you an ad, unless you have an ad blocker, which is another discussion.
Unless you're abroad and just trying to gain access back to your countries Netflix while you're away on a vacation or something.

I'm not sure about america, but in Australia its perfectly legal to bypass geoblocking. It might be against Netflixes TOS, but even if it was Netflix is doing so unlawfully because they can't negate my consumer rights as an Australian.

Oh I have no idea about legality, just feels kind of sketchy to me personally to do. Don't really care if anyone else does though.

What if I'm abroad and just watching Netflix in the abroad country? Is there a distinction to which Netflix I'm paying my money?

These agreements are typically bound by legal licensing issues between different publishers and who owns the rights to what parts.

The nature of the legal agreement could make it a moral issue but more often than not it's something stupid like some copyright troll bought the rights to a song on the soundtrack and won't let you release the movie unless you edit it the song or pay him out the ass.

This is also why Netflix doesn't really give a shit if you vpn around then.

Didn't they crack down hard on it a few years ago, have a banwave, and still block many VPN servers from being usable? You'll get a message to disable your VPN with many VPN's.

I've never heard of people being banned, just vpns.
