First off. Rey's paremts being nobodies doesn't bother me. Part of me kind of likes it. So much for all of those Obi-Tu theories.

I like Fin but he got thrown into the worst story and his love interest (or who is interested in him) got a big downgrade

It didn't bother me right away but now thinking back, Luke trying to kill Ben in his sleep is complete bs. He tried to save vader who was much further in the darkside. What was his plan afterwards? Tell his sister and his friend he got scared of their son and sliced of his head while he slept?

Finally. Snoke. WTF. I get this has been discussed but did the writers really think we wouldn't ask how Snoke got into power, who he is (what happened to that damn rule of 2), when vader and sidious died this dude came out of no where.

Pretty let down by it, probably only above Ep2

I liked more or less everything with Rey and Kylo.
I agree with you about Luke, his big thing in RotJ was how he refused to raise his lightsaber even against the Emperor. So it makes no sense that he would, even in a moment of weakness, do it against a kid. Or at least, it warrants a much longer explanation for how the character changed that dramatically.
What I didn't like about the movie was everything else. The stupid chase thing, Finn's and Rose's (that was her name right?) adventure, they all felt like really bad filler.
But I really liked Snoke's demise :)

No. It is even worse than Ep2

Definitely so.

I had a chance to go back and watch 2 only a few weeks ago. For all the vitriol and criticisms I had of it beforehand, this time... it was like a breath of fresh air.

I actually sat down and enjoyed the action, the story and the dialogue. I used to think it was bad. Now? I find it all endearing, the bad script, the ridiculousness of flying battlemech R2, Yoda bouncing around like a maniac, everything.

Disney has done something unbelievable; kindle the love for AotC I never had. That is good, I guess. Even if it's a wistful, 'I never knew we had it good' sort and not actual love. Lucas should have stuck around and kept making new movies. He was the genius Star Wars fans didn't deserve.

Yoda bouncing around like a maniac,

This is seriously the worst part of that movie but I'd honestly rather have this than ghost Yoda summoning lightning bolts like what the fuck

In that moment, whatever darkness & evil that he saw in Bens future frightened him in a way that not even Darth Vader did.

There was no plan because it was a spur of the moment. He literally explained his lapse of judgment and the fatal mistake he made.

But he didn't try to fix his mistake. In place of becoming a hermit he should have spent his days trying to the save the guy he pushed over the edge.

Rey's parents is (imo) one of the better narrative twists on a theme that came out of that movie. How tired is the "your talent comes from having famous and legendary parents" trope? Kind of cool that this one played on that expectation but turned it around.

yeah, the awkward forced Guardians of the Galaxy humor was horrible too. Completely ruined the tension in most scenes.

why wasn't Luke making your mom jokes during the trench run scene??? Really would have made it much better.

but they just want to sell toys and make movies for 12 year olds, so whatever.

Oh yeah, I completely agree. I mean some of the humor I actually thought was quite fun, but it didn't really fit, and there was far too much of it.

Maybe he did? I dunno, it wasnt stated either way if that was the last they spoke or saw each other. The flashbacks were just to the crucial moment that the master betrayed the student.
