I started learning to use them for this little known 3D MMORPG named Aura Kingdom back in 2014.

I never really liked those controls so I've never really used them

Couldn't tell you exactly why or when I switched, but as a kid I'd always use the arrow keys and as a teenager on I used WASD. It might have been Quake II.

I dunno, I've used wasd for a long time now. even in games that don't use the mouse, I'll do something like wasd for movement and some of uiopjkl; for actions. it feels more natural to me since I have more right hand dexterity and action buttons like jump/attack/dash/etc seem to be a lot easier to get tangled up accidentally than movement does

I started to learn it in 2006 or 2007 when my friend convinced me to pay CS:S with him. The only games on PC I'd really played prior to that were RTS games, so it was a bit of a struggle to learn.
