Basically, for what I understand, they're invite only raids that occur at a specific time and location. If you don't show up at that time, you lose the pass and have to hope to get another.

Good for you. I still haven't been lucky enough to get an invite to one, while one of my cousins went to his seventh EX raid this past weekend. Whoever thought of this EX raid idea deserves to take a Machamp Dynamicpunch to the dick.

So imagine if you get an EX raid invite, drive all the way there, and don't get enough people to show up to take it down. I know some people that already got 20 of them.
