It was just a dumb movie to make. These "star wars stories" feel tacked on and unnecessary, which drives away casual fans. They tricked us once with Rogue One because it was the first one but now we know they aren't going to contribute in any meaningful way to the overall plot.
And serious fans were never keen on recasting Ford. Just a bad business decision from the start. Add on the fact that they ridiculously inflated its budget by basically shooting the whole film twice, and it was bound to flop. I don't think SJWism had anything to do with it.
