Do they actually transfer over? It looks like they can visit. Like at a PokPark. But not actually stay...

I was hyped until I learned it won't be a main series entry and won't play like one. I really hope the next game next year still have the coop function, that is a pretty nice addition (and the ultimate slap in the face of thousands of other games that STILL refuse to go back to local multiplayer for some god damn reason).

That reason is that couch multiplayer only requires the purchase of one copy for multiple players, whereas online multiplayer requires the purchase of a copy for each. The game industry is pretty notorious for deciding that certain things (single-player games, local multiplayer...) are "dead" because they would make less money if they continued to produce them.

I remember when Nintendo had the download play thing on the DS. Where one person could have a game like Mario Kart. And others could download and play. The thing is, if it's a good game, more people would still buy it. If I went to a friend's house to play a game that was co-op, I might still buy the game for my self. Mostly because I wouldn't want to have to go to his/her house to play. That being said, Nintendo still does local co-op with some games. I believe a good amount of switch games have that option...
