In vanilla, you mostly just need enough to sustain your diamond tools/armour. Meanwhile, if you're going to do any significant amount of rail work, you're going to need lots of gold for powered tracks. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Lets use the Wyvern Chestplate for example You need (going from base material) x13 diamond x20 gold x1 netherstar x36 redstone x34 Draconium And Draconium, without going to the end. Is the hardest thing to find in most modded versions. If you want the full set x13 diamonds chest)+ 10 (helm) + 12 (legs) + 9 (boots) x80 gold x4 netherstars x16 redstone blocks x136 Draconium This is just for an armor set that isn't even the best one --- ... You think you know Steve? I've LIVED Steve. I've eaten, drunk, and breathed Steve. Steve has become incorporated into every fibre of my being, so when I tell you gold is more useful to Steve than diamonds, I expect you to ****ing listen.
In all seriousness, it's been so long since I've really played vanilla MC that I don't really know how diamonds compare to gold in terms of overall usefulness. With mods, it's often actually iron that ends up being a bottleneck, due to how much of it is used, with ender pearls being the basis for more high-end items. Both diamonds and gold often end up taking a bit of a back seat. Automated mining (or other means of resource gathering) also tends to simply bring both to me without me having to worry about them. *Shrug* ... Copied to Clipboard!

As you said, the Draconium is by far the more limiting resource. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Plus i found a good way to farm them without mobs appearing. Not sure why i didnt think of it sooner. Just use slabs in a dark hallway, and have the berrys growing on both sides --- ... Can't you just use autonomous activators to harvest the oreberries and then not have to worry about mobs spawning because you won't be going in there anyway? I dunno, I've never seriously used oreberries. My last couple worlds I've just built laser drills to give me free stuff.

I dunno, I've never seriously used oreberries. My last couple worlds I've just built laser drills to give me free stuff. You probably can. I am very lazy when setting up an automated system. I really should, cause then when producing glass for my solar panels it would go into a box. Solar flux has been my rf generators for my last few games. Fairly cheap to start off, and the later ones produce more energy then i really need. If you can build up to just a few level 6s you are basically set --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

In my last big modpack (I did a smaller one with friends that only had a couple mods), I got my power from a combination of extrautilities nether star generators and RFtools spawners and shields to make a Wither farm. That setup had ample room to expand (I had one spawner going and the room I built had space for at least 5), and I was already producing a couple million RF/t (in addition to being just plain cool). That was overkill, even with RFtools dimensions to power.

I've actually steered clear of solar panels for exactly that reason. I like having to build more complex infrastructure than "here's some power because sun." It's undeniably convenient, but I kinda like it my way better.
