Shit! Seems like almost every time we have internet issues that are relatively difficult to diagnose, Level3 is the culprit.

Incidents I can remember:

1. Some time last year, Level3 did something dumb with their routing to where the preferred return path for a bunch of internet traffic in the US was coming from Europe.
2. Some time last year, Level3 was doing maintenance in East Asia (night time for them, day time for the US) and created an IP conflict that tanked the internet for a bunch of folks
3. Some time last year, Level3 had a BGP configuration error that took down about 3 ISP networks nationwide.
4. Today, we're having weird latency issues all over the god damn place. Turns out our internal DNS servers are using Level3 as DNS forwarders. Switched to OpenDNS and problem is resolved.
