Hello all of B8. I have not done a ranking topic in quite some time, and as we all know, B8 is the home of ranking things. At first, I wanted to make a topic ranking my top 5 least favorite trophies, but this was simply too small of a project. The more I looked at my TrueTrophies profile, the more ranking topics I thought of, and the more I realized I had to make one big collective ranking topic.

So, with 70 platinums under my belt, numerous 100% completions, and a number of games that I haven't bothered to play to completion, we're going to be taking a look at the following categories:

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
Simple. Based on hours alone, these are the games that I've invested the most of my time into, and I'll be going into why exactly I've sunk so much time into these games.

Top 5 Worst Trophies
These are the trophies that I absolutely despised getting, and still have bad memories of today.

Top 5 Underrated/Underappreciated Games and Top 5 Overrated Games
Two categories that I'll be doing side by side. The top 5 underrated games don't necessarily have to be poorly received games (although some are). They could also be games that received overly-harsh criticism from players or games that simply never gained the recognition they deserved. The top 5 overrated games are the games that I believe did not deserve the critical reception they achieved.

Top 5 Hardest Platinums I've Gotten
These were the platinums that had a few trophies that made me want to throw my controller, or they were just hard games in general, making each trophy hard on average.

Top 5 Hardest Platinums I Won't Get
Similar to the above category, these are platinums that can make you want to throw your controller, except with these games I don't have the platinum trophy and probably never will.

Top 5 Almost Amazing Games
These games aimed for greatness, but fell just short of it. The potential is there for a 9/10 or 10/10 game, but there may be a critical flaw that sets it at a 7 or 8.

Top 5 Indie Games
I separated the indie games from my main "best of" list because there were games on this list that missed the cut, but they're still fantastic games that deserve recognition.

Top 10 Games
We'll close this topic out with Solio's definitive top 10 games, at least of the games that I can get trophies on. Given that most of my gaming has been on the newer Sony consoles, this isn't too far off from my real top 10 list, but it does sadly exclude some fantastic games that I played on N64, PS2, 360, and other consoles. Nonetheless, these are all games that I think every gamer should play before they die.

This is the library of games that I'll be using for rankings:
https://www.truetrophies.com/gamer/Solioxrz362/games

Every entry will come with a detailed write-up! Also, feel free to request a top 5 category for me to do, as long as it fits the library. I'll give a short write-up for each entry on the requested top 5 categories.

Two quick notes before we get started:

First, the following games were not contenders for any of the rankings:
Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition
Fez
Ico
Journey
Metal Gear Solid 4
Mortal Kombat X
Pinballistik
Puppeteer
Super Time Force Ultra
The Last Guardian
Twisted Metal
Zone of the Enders
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner

These are games that I either did not play myself (in most cases, it was my brother using my console to play them) or I have not played enough to accurately gauge their value.

Second, I am offering a $20 prize to anyone that can correctly guess my top 10 games in the correct order! Given that I just narrowed the selection pool down and I've been very vocal about what my preferences are (the #1 game in particular should be incredibly easy), I don't think this is going to be impossible. It will still be difficult though, which is why I'm putting up money for it.

Enjoy the rankings!

Let's start with the first category:

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
#5 - Persona 4 Golden

My completion time on Persona 4 Golden sat at over 200 hours. Persona 4 Golden is a long game no matter how you spin it, but I took a little bit of extra time to be done with it. Going for the platinum requires almost 2 full playthroughs, so that obviously took some time. Not only that, but I definitely inflated my completion time due to trying to be very thorough with the trophy "Hardcore Rise Fan," which requires you to hear 250 of Rise's navigation lines during combat.

I somewhat regret spending this much time on this game, because 200 hours is a lot and I went well over that. However, Persona 4 Golden is a great game, and in terms of RPGs, it's one of the better ones. I knew coming into this game I was going to be putting some hours into it, and most of the time was worth it.

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
#4 - Killzone: Mercenary

It's not a Halo Killer, but it certainly got me to sink some hours into it. At least this iteration did.

Killzone's second handheld game has a pretty good multiplayer mode that got me hooked. In terms of a first person shooter, this is one of the better feeling ones I've played, and the online connection was surprisingly good for such a demanding handheld game like this. Naturally, I played it a lot because of this. Definitely time well spent.

What wasn't time well spent was the amount of tedious grinding I had to do to chase the platinum trophy, which was mostly offline. The trophy "Blood Bank" requires getting 10,000 kills, and by the time I had every other trophy, I only had about 5.5k. That's pretty surprising to me because one trophy requires you do 4 specific objectives in every single-player mission, and that takes some time and killing. So I ended up running through the same one or two missions over and over again to kill enough enemies for that last trophy and the platinum. Great game, but annoying trophy. I'd probably go back to the multiplayer if I believed there were still people playing it, but the VITA is pretty much dead.

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
#3 - Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

We're getting into some serious time input by this point. I've played this game plenty by myself, probably enough to make it into the top 5 off those hours alone. But this is the only video game my dad is good at, so we played this game together way more than I played it by myself. If I had to take a guess, I'd put the time input at about 550-650 hours spent on this game total. Could be higher.

It's really a difficult game to get good at, and some of the later courses are no joke in terms of difficulty. The challenges are some of the hardest things I've ever seen in gaming. If you want to make progress in this game, and if you want to chase the platinum, you need to put a lot of time into it. It's possible to spend over 1000 hours and still not 100% it because of how impossible things get.

Given that this is a game that always makes me think of my dad and all the fun we've had playing it, it's worth the time I've spent on it. It's almost definitely not the best Hot Shots game, but it's my favorite.

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
#2 - Soul Calibur V

As a fighting game and nothing else, this is a pretty fucking good game. In fact, it's probably my favorite. The characters are pretty well balanced, the combos are satisfying, there's very little bullshit, and the only thing I actively hate is how weird some of the characters' mix-ups are. All of this made Soul Calibur V the first fighting game I wanted to be good at. I beat all of the offline content, then I spent a ton of time searching online for metagame tips and watching tournament VODs. I spent even more time online playing ranked matches, and then a little bit of extra time playing online friendlies. All together, I'd say I've put 800 hours or more into SCV.

If this game had well-attended tournaments, I would have definitely kept playing this. However, the tournament scene was already pretty dead by the time I started getting really good, and so I never have been able to play this game with someone of an equal skill level offline. Maybe some of the time I've spent can translate into good skill for Soul Calibur VI, and then I can say I spent my time well on this game.

Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On
#1 - The Last of Us / The Last of Us Remastered

Between the two versions of this game, I've probably completed 6 full playthroughs (a majority of them were on Survivor or Grounded difficulty), which counts up to around 100-130 hours. Add in my time spent on the Left Behind DLC for roughly another 15 hours. But that's not where I've spent the most time on this game.

The Last of Us features my most beloved multiplayer of any game, and I have played a ton of it. I'd wager total playtime hours on this game add up to 850-900 hours, and obviously most of that came from multiplayer. It's really fantastic.

Final Top 5 Games I've Spent The Most Time On:
1. The Last of Us / The Last of Us Remastered
2. Soul Calibur V
3. Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
4. Killzone: Mercenary
5. Persona 4 Golden

Have I ever spent 1000 hours or more on a game? The answer is yes, but it's not a game on any Sony console. I have spent well over 1000 hours on Super Smash Bros 4, as I used to go to tournaments for that game and practiced it religiously for a while. I'd also give an honorable mention to Halo Reach and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I played those on 360 a ton, but I wouldn't have any idea what the total hours are.

Top 5 Overrated/Underrated

Overrated Honorable Mention - Killzone 2

Killzone 2 is a very pretty game with a badass main villain, but that's mostly it. It received rave reviews and I think most of them were probably because of the graphics and sound. Its gameplay feels heavy and the story is very weak. It's still an enjoyable game for sure, but not the 9/10 game it was thought to be on release. What keeps Killzone 2 from being higher up this list is that nowadays people realize that it really isn't a fantastic game, just when it came out it got rated way too high.

Underrated Honorable Mention - Binary Domain

Binary Domain was given decent marks by critics when it came out, but no one played it. On release, the multiplayer was already dead, probably because sales were horrifically bad in North America.

This is a flawed game, but it's also a really good flawed game. It deserved better sales for sure, and it was a little underrated by critics.

Overrated #5 - Heavy Rain

B8 loves to shit on this game, but not everyone does. In fact, critics at the time thought it was amazing. It's not. Now, I don't think this game is complete trash, but it's not a fantastic game. It is okay. Probably not a game I'd go out of my way to replay just for fun, but not a game that I feel strongly against. It's just a little melodramatic, that's all. There's still some great moments.

Underrated #5 - Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel

The Devil's Cartel got pretty bad reviews when it came out, with most reviewers giving it a 5/10. That's the game critic way of saying "This game functions I suppose, but it does suck." But when I played it, I thought it was good. There's a few silly moments in the game, but the gameplay is fun and the story isn't bad necessarily. Now that I think about it, most of what I said about Heavy Rain probably applies here too. It's not trash, but there's still some great moments in there.

Overrated #4 - Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

This game, unlike the last two I spoke about, is really garbage. Almost all of the characters are really stupid, the game's tone is horribly jarring, and the gameplay does not make up for any of the flaws. Because the gameplay isn't even super fun. I can't really think of anything nice to say about this game other than I didn't entirely despise the gameplay. And I still got the platinum on it. I have a problem.

Metacritic has this game sitting around a 70, and I think it deserves a 40 at best. I was not impressed at all with this game, and I enjoyed the Final Fantasy XV demo that came with it more than I enjoyed any part of this game.

Underrated #4 - Watch Dogs

Hey, look at that! I just got the platinum on this game tonight. Like, 10 minutes ago. Thanks for the help Jakyl on that last online trophy.

There is one really sad part about this game and that's the massive graphical downgrade it got from its E3 2012 trailer to release. The actual game still looks pretty with a few questionable areas (such as the facial models for everyone except the main cast being ugly), but it just doesn't even get close to that E3 trailer.

With that said, this game has some seriously clean gameplay. Hacking is used in combat in a bunch of cool ways, both with gun combat and in car chases. The gunplay is responsive and fun, and the missions are varied enough to keep things interesting through the whole experience. The story gets a little predictable at times, but it's still exciting enough to cause engagement from the player.

So why does this game get shit on by players? It just wasn't what they expected and it wasn't what they were told it was gonna be. I get that. Personally, I had a bunch of fun with this game, and the critics enjoyed it. If you can get past the fact that Ubisoft promised a little more than they could deliver, then I think you can see this game for what it really is, and that's a pretty good open world game with a hacking gimmick.

Overrated #3 - Freedom Wars

I have a feeling that no critic played this game all the way through to the end, because you'd be able to tell if they had. This game got good marks as a pretty game for the VITA with solid gameplay and good atmosphere. Not a single critic mentioned the non-ending that the game throws at you. I won't spoil anything for anyone who has yet to play the game, but the credits roll right as the climax seems like it's starting. It's the only game that has ever gotten me real life pissed off over an ending.

The difficulty spikes are oppressive, the weapon crafting system is poorly explained and over-complicated (as well as completely necessary for the late missions, so good luck figuring it out), and the story shows promise but shits all in your face. It didn't deserve the scores it got, and I think it's just because critics didn't actually spend enough time on the game before releasing their reviews.

Underrated #3 - Mirror's Edge Catalyst

The majority of players and critics seem to think this game was a disappointment and maybe a slight downgrade from the original Mirror's Edge. I'm going to strongly disagree with that.

The combat in the original Mirror's Edge was laughable, and the combat here is improved, if only to a certain degree. The story in the original Mirror's Edge was simply there to exist, while the story in Catalyst actually does more than just exist. The free-running is still there, but now you have a whole open world to explore with it rather than straight levels.

This was not a downgrade from the original Mirror's Edge, this was the evolution that the original concept needed.

stuff like Bayonetta in Smash 4 being able to combo into a kill at pretty much any percent, or Bayonetta having a counter that can trap you in place for numerous seconds where she can rack up percent for free and then set up for one of those death combos.

I'm not a big fan of Astaroth having 75% health combos off of wall splats, or a bunch of easy command throws that can catch crouches and some can be combo'd into and they do absolutely absurd damage.

It's been a while since I played it and I tried to go as fast as possible through it since I didn't care for the game very much, so I can't remember specific characters very well (it also didn't help that all of Class Zero were basically just playing card numbers). But I definitely remember a good few of those Class Zero characters being complete knuckleheads or unrealistically aggressive or just flat out annoying.

The story felt confusing and the ending I thought was just alright. Not horrible, but not great either. I think what really didn't help me enjoy the ending was the fact that the game changed moods constantly. The game starts off with a REALLY drawn-out death scene, then you go to a school where at least some of the Class Zero characters have cartoonish personalities, at the school the BGM is this really cheery/light-hearted sounding track, and then the ending is literally all of Class Zero dying. It just kinda left me like "what?"

Overrated #2 - Resident Evil Remake

Here we go. The first big controversial opinion. This game sucks.

I think, from a game design perspective, this is definitely one of the worst games I've ever played. You either play with updated controls that get entirely screwed up from the camera angles, or you play with tank controls that aren't really fun to use. The game asks that you search a mansion for all these key items, some of which are basically tiny little bits in random hallways. And then it seems to punish you for searching the mansion by having the enemies occasionally jump scare you. Your inventory is also really small so most non-veteran players will find themselves having to frequently make trips to safe rooms to put items in storage.

These are probably just old survival horror gameplay tropes. You're supposed to be scared walking through the mansion! You're supposed to find ways to manage your inventory!

Yeah, but I don't really think that makes for a fun game. The horror feels kinda cheap, the story is kinda silly, and I'd rather not have to choose between taking things to storage or leaving a bunch of stuff behind.

I much preferred the action style of Resident Evil 4, and while I haven't played 5 or 6 yet, I'm getting the feeling I'll probably enjoy those games more than I enjoyed this one.

Underrated #2 - Killzone: Mercenary

I've already talked about it a bit, but let's discuss this game a little more.

One thing I never liked about the main trilogy of Killzone games was that the stories tried to be these epic tales of gritty futuristic war, and I don't think any of them really pulled it off. Killzone 2 came closest, while Killzone 1 was overall just not a very fun game and Killzone 3 started off fine and eventually the story fell flat really hard.

Mercenary takes a different approach to how it wanted to tell its story. It still has a bit of that gritty futuristic war, but in the end your character is just a mercenary. He fights where the money is. You get paid for everything - every kill and every headshot is rewarded with money. And you do end up fighting for all of the sides in the war that Killzone puts in front of you.

It's a little easier to digest and a little less heavy (I mean that both in terms of its story and its gameplay). Which is great. This game feels fun where the others didn't. It still has fantastic visuals like Killzone 2 and 3 do, because this game looks like it could be a PS3 game on when it runs on a damn handheld console. The gameplay is smooth, the multiplayer is smooth, the story is serviceable and less detracting than the other games' stories are, and it is probably overall the best Killzone game. Only Shadow Fall on PS4 rivals it.

Of course, this game is underappreciated because it's a VITA title and it's a shooter. Not only do all VITA titles get very little recognition (because it's the fucking VITA), but this genre isn't what a lot of VITA owners really bought the console for.

Overrated #1 - Gone Home

I don't feel right about hating Gone Home, but I do. It feels like it swung for the fences with its message and hit the saddest grounder to the first baseman that anyone has ever hit.

The mansion is set up to be spooky but there is literally nothing actually spooky about it, except for one entirely useless prop near the very end. The main plot line about your sister paints the sister as someone who doesn't face her issues with maturity but instead with an incredible amount of melodramatic whining and a complete disregard for doing smart things. And the music is HORRIBLE.

The sister's main character trait of being lesbian was important. It was important for characters like this to exist in games. It was important to paint their struggles, especially in a way that real people that go through these things can relate to. At times, they succeeded. But, the issue is where the character ends up and how the end of the story is told. When the sister dropped a line like "The sunset light in this house is the saddest thing I've ever seen," I just kinda groaned. That's not good writing for your character. That's taking me right out of any realism you had with her. That's way too dramatic.

Perhaps it's my own personal character that makes it hard for me to relate to a line like that. I'm not one for a ton of drama or looking at everything in a sad light when I'm sad or upset. I certainly was when I was younger, like in middle school. That was a time that I think of now as my immature years, and when I see this character act like that, I think "I totally get the struggle but can you just grow up a little bit and then tell the story again?" And this is all driven home by the ending. She is 17 and she goes and runs away with her also very young lover because she is so infatuated. That is irresponsible. That is dangerous. And it is probably not a story that ends up very well for either Lonnie or Samantha. In fact Samantha probably ends up having to go back home because her and Lonnie have no money.

I sympathize with the sister and I am by no means saying that the struggle she endures is trivial or something she just needs to brush off, but I don't really like her. She seems like a character that in any other game with any other defining trait no one would like her. So how do the other characters fare? Well, I suppose that's very subjective, but I didn't think the other characters' stories (revealed of course through the various things to look at in the house) were entirely captivating either. This is a game entirely based around discovering the CHARACTERS and I did not end up really liking or particularly caring about any of them.

So I have to say, I appreciate the message this game tried to give and I completely understand if anyone who is LGBT loves this game. Personally, I think it didn't deserve a single one of those perfect scores. It certainly shouldn't have ever been in the discussion for Game of the Year.

I like this quote from Eurogamer's review:

"...noble intentions aren't enough in themselves, and when the screen fades to black it turns out that Gone Home doesn't have much to say for itself. It's more manifesto than message."

Underrated #1 - Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Let's talk about how underappreciated this game is. When I started playing this game, I did not expect it to be good simply because it was under the Call of Juarez title, and I had no faith in that after hearing about the tragedy that was The Cartel. A lot of other people also probably don't care to give this game the light of day, and just recently it went through a weird period of being removed from Steam and I think a few other online retailers before being re-listed about a month later.

It's as if this game may as well not exist. But this is a game that I believe to be possibly the best first person shooter of the entire decade.

This is a game with the most satisfying gunplay I've ever seen, and a pretty good story to keep the game going. The only sad part is it is short. By the time I hit 100% completion, I wanted twice as much as I got.

We'll save some details for this write-up but let me just create a bit of juxtaposition here to explain why I think this game is severely underrated despite good reviews from critics and fantastic reception from most people who have played it.

Incredibly short length with no added content since release, long-lasting developer silence regarding the game, 5 years since a follow-up, delisted from Steam for a month due to rights issues, largely ignored due to the failure of its predecessor.

I think it's the best pure FPS of the decade.

Does it look like a game that gets treated as such? No. Definitely not to me.

We'll continue in some capacity tomorrow with the top 5 worst trophies!

I will be busy with a gig until about 2:30, and then I'll have about an hour and a half before I have to get ready for a funeral visitation, so there's a good chance we won't have too much posted tomorrow, but this is a topic that I'm dedicated to finishing, so have no worries that the entries will keep coming at the best rate I can supply them!

Top 5 Worst Trophies

Honorable Mention - Starwhal | Too Easy

In a game where the fun is entirely based around everyone being horribly bad at controlling the Starwhal, this trophy requires you to get really good at controlling the Starwhal. I think the game was intentionally designed to where you're not supposed to be able to navigate the Starwhal exactly how you want to, so why make the player try?

The goal of this trophy is to complete all challenge levels with platinum times. It's just not fun. I enjoy playing this game with friends when we're all flopping around taking horribly-aimed stabs at each others' hearts, not trying to fly through very narrow tunnels with lava on both sides.

Honorable Mention - Gone Home | Behind The Scenes

Listen to every bit of developer commentary in Gone Home? Okay, maybe it will explain some of the questionable decisions the developers made.

It doesn't. The developers sound like they're bullshitting a high school AP English essay. It sounds low quality and hardly insightful.

It's an incredibly easy trophy but damn, it made me like this game even less because it shook my faith in the intent of the developers. Did they really mean to make a statement that connected with a bunch of people or did they just toss some social issues at the wall hoping they stuck?

#5 - Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational | Watery Wonder

Hot Shots Golf is a ton of fun, but trying to skip the ball across water three times is just frustrating, and this trophy asks you to do exactly that.

Why is this a trophy? The only easy spots to do this trophy always leave your ball in a spot that is ridiculous to play from. And it's kinda luck based anyways.

At least the trophies like getting a Double Eagle are pretty fucking awesome when you finally pull it off. The Double Eagle is pretty luck based too, but just imagine getting one of those. The shot that makes it in is so awesome.

There's very little cool about skipping the ball off the water three times and landing at the bottom of a hill in the deep rough, far away from the fairway path. Bad trophy.

In the new one you only have to do one water skip which is much more reasonable

And probably is doable in a spot that won't leave your ball unplayable, which is a nice bonus because you can do it in normal play and get the trophy normally!

#4 - Kickbeat | One With The Sphere

Kickbeat is an interesting rhythm game. It's not very pretty and the soundtrack for the game is really really gross (it's all that disgusting kind of pump-you-up alternative rock mixed with bad rap you might hear from a Mountain Dew commercial in the '90s). But the rhythm game mechanics in it are hard to master at the higher difficulties and it's kinda fun.

One With The Sphere requires you to use the game's feature where you can play the game to your own music. Sounds like a nice mechanic! But it's not. There's not really any ebb or flow to the "chart" the game gives you for each song, and it's almost always slightly offbeat too. So you have to do this with 15 songs.

That means you have to play a poorly made slightly offbeat rhythm game chart 15 times. Songs are on average about 3-1/2 minutes, so expect to spend somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes trying to bear with the bad charts.

The process of actually getting them into the game is kind of a pain too. IIRC you have to get the songs on your Vita (which is inconvenient, I don't keep my music library on my Vita) and then upload them to the game which takes a bit, and then the game requires a few bits of information about the song such as BPM before it creates the chart. Pain. In. The. Ass.

#3 - The Unfinished Swan | Minimalist

"Reach the Watchtower without throwing more than 3 balls"

This trophy suffers from the same kind of issue that Starwhal's Too Easy trophy does. The whole point of this game was to uncover the environment around you by throwing the black paint balls around and painting the otherwise invisible surroundings. This trophy requires you to do pretty much the whole first level nearly entirely blind. You get 3 paintballs.

There's a few critical spots that you'll want to use a paintball in, and when those spots come around you better aim pretty damn good otherwise you'll end up still mostly blind and without any meaningful guide.

For a while, I considered this the worst trophy I had ever gotten because it was the only one that had ever made me feel sick to my stomach. "Moving" while the screen remains completely white and then getting lost and having no idea where I was actually gave me nausea. I had to stop after about 3 attempts of getting lost halfway through so I could wait for a bit to let my head slow down and to let my stomach get right again.

To be honest, I think this trophy is nearly impossible without a guide, and I have a strong principle against trophies like that. I don't know who the first person to figure this one out was, but thank God that someone uploaded a detailed youtube guide (that relied heavily on vocal directions and audio cues because the screen stays white the whole damn time) because otherwise I wouldn't have this trophy.

Will finish the top 5 worst trophies later tonight - it surprised me that I consider two trophies worse than Minimalist but there's a couple of pretty horrible trophies out there!

In the meantime, feel free to take a swing at what the top 2 worst trophies I've gotten are. The #2 spot is one that I've gotten very recently and the #1 spot is from a game that I hardly consider a game.

Good guess, but not quite! One of them was almost an honorable mention.

#2 - Watch Dogs | Disk Space Full

As I said earlier, Watch Dogs is definitely underrated by players. I enjoyed the entire game. Except for getting this trophy.

Disk Space Full requires you to find all songs through the SongSneak app or through hacking NPCs. This sounds easy enough - you hack enough NPCs, you get the trophy. You stop in shops regularly enough and SongSneak the music playing, then you'll probably get the trophy.

But remember when I said I hate trophies that are basically impossible without a guide? Yeah, this is definitely one of those trophies.

Out of the 23 songs you need to find, there are 3 that you can only get through hacking, one of which is particularly a massive pain and takes hours of searching NPCs hoping to get lucky and find the one guy who has the damn song. 3 are unlocked by story progression, which is totally fine. And the rest you scan while you're in shops, which would be fine if some of the songs didn't only play in one or two shops, and they were just one song on a playlist of 4-6 songs that repeat in those stores.

Basically, if you wanted to find every song without a guide, you'd have to go to most shops, sit and wait to scan each song in the store's playlist as they are played over the store's speakers, beat most of the main game missions, and then spend hours hunting down the 3 hack-only songs. That requires an insane amount of tedium, time spent idling, and luck on the last 3. It might take more time to get this trophy than it would actually beating the main story.

As it is, even with a guide, you still have to get lucky to find those last 3 hack-only songs because they don't show up very easy. So, you can get rid of a lot of the wasted time waiting around in shops to hear every song, but you can't get rid of the tedium and the luck. It is boring. I spent probably about 2.5 hours just running around the same area scanning every person that walked through there, and after stealing everyone's bank account money, I finally found the last song.

At least with a guide-dependent trophy like Minimalist, there is a definite way to do it and you aren't at the game's mercy for whether or not you get the trophy. For Disk Space Full, because of the hack-only songs, you are entirely at the game's mercy. It is all luck based whether you can find that song fast, within a couple hours, or if it will take you days to finally get it.

#1 - Proteus | Generall Historie of Plantes

No, I didn't make a typo on that trophy name, and no, Proteus is not really a video game. It wants to be a video game, but you cannot convince me that this is a game that you play with a goal and some kind of obstacle to overcome.

Proteus, for those who haven't played it, is a walking simulator where you walk around an island and stand in the middle of a circle of stones to progress to the next season. The game auto-ends after you spend a few minutes in winter. In the meantime, you can look around and... well, actually, that's about it. You can look around.

It's a horribly boring walking simulator with visuals that can't keep your interest for the hour that you'll probably spend on it should you ever decide to play it. But the worst part of the game by far is the fact that it has trophies, because the trophies in this game all suck and a lot of them would definitely fit within this top 5 if I didn't restrict the list to one trophy per game. This is obviously problematic for me who loves to get trophies.

Generall Historie of Plantes requires you to look at every plant on the island in a full playthrough. You have to be very thorough with your walking and looking to make sure you have had every plant on your screen at some point, and you have to repeat the process for each of the four seasons. The game gives you no way to track your progress (because again, the game is literally walking and looking and absolutely nothing else. No HUD, no in-game menus, no inventory, nothing). This makes it very frustrating if you mess the trophy up, because you don't really know what plant you missed and you don't even really know what you are looking for. Additionally, you have to play Proteus again if you miss the trophy, which is punishment enough.

This is doable without a guide, but you wouldn't really have any idea of what the trophy is asking you to do unless you had a guide anyways because the description they give is complete fucking nonsense.

"If delight may provoke men's labour, what greater delight is there than to behold the earth apparelled with plants?"

Fuck off Proteus. Your trophies aren't art and your game isn't art. It's an incredibly boring walking simulator with a really horrible trophy that you don't even bother hardly describing and that you give the player no indication of if they're doing it right until it pops. Not only is this a game I never want to play again, this is a trophy that I refuse to ever attempt again. I got it on my first try (thank God) and if I didn't get it on my first try I'd probably just resign myself to not having it.

Here's a recap of the top 5 worst trophies I've gotten!

Top 5 Worst Trophies
1. Proteus - Generall Historie of Plantes
2. Watch Dogs - Disk Space Full
3. The Unfinished Swan - Minimalist
4. Kickbeat - One With The Sphere
5. Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational - Watery Wonder
HM. Gone Home - Behind The Scenes
HM. Starwhal - Too Easy

If Proteus was allowed multiple trophies on this list, I would have also put The Further One Goes (complete 3 playthroughs) and Unraveling the Landscape (touch all the stones) above Kickbeat's One With The Sphere.

I also considered two other games to have a trophy on this list: Final Fantasy XV Comrades's Let There Be Light trophy (amass an output of 999,999 kW) and Shadow of the Colossus's Intrepid Mortal (max out Wander's stamina and health), and at that point I probably would have made this a top 10 worst trophies list.

It was very tempting to have Let There Be Light on here because when I did that trophy, it required a STUPID amount of grinding to reach that kW output. There simply wasn't enough missions in the multiplayer to do that naturally, and the insane load times made it frustrating to try and grind because it took so long. You spent more time out of missions that actually in missions fighting things. However, I decided against adding it because now that they've updated Comrades and added more to do, this probably isn't nearly as tedious. You could probably play naturally and only have to do an hour or so of straight up kW grinding. I don't know that for sure, that's completely a guess, but it'd be easier for sure.

Comrades still isn't very fun, but the trophy isn't horrible by design anymore.

Intrepid Mortal was considered for a similar reason: you don't get enough health and stamina on Wander from one or two or even three full playthroughs of the game. It takes an annoying amount of grinding to get to max health/stamina, and while gathering fruit throughout the world can speed up health maxing, the lizard tails give you such a tiny amount of stamina increase for the amount of work they require to kill the lizards that they aren't worth it. So you end up having to grind out colossi battles anyways. I decided against putting this trophy on the list because SotC is a good game and grinding out the colossi honestly wasn't the worst thing in the world. And, at the end of it all, you can reward yourself by climbing up the temple and seeing the nice garden at the top.
