Just got the Treasure Trove version for Switch, and man Ive been missing out. Ive beaten like five levels so far, and Im really digging the retro aesthetic and lovely 8-bit music.

I just finished the original campaign. I agree about the influences - combat and sub weapons are like classic Castlevania, and the levels and bosses remind me of Megaman. Its a fine blend of the NES greats.

Thankfully this wasnt overly frustrating like those games thanks to generous checkpoints and health refills, although there were some pretty difficult segments on the last stages. The boss rush was intense; I used my last chalice with three bosses left and it went right down to the wire.

Overall it was a fun campaign with great gameplay, music, and humor. Next up is the other two campaigns, are they as good?

So Ive beaten the first few levels of Plague Knights campaign, and its certainly interesting. I didnt like how he controlled at first, but its all right after adjusting. I really like all the different combos of case/powder/fuse that you can try, you can approach situations in a lot of different ways.

It's well polished and has a great soundtrack, but other than that I wasn't very impressed with it.

Its pretty good, but if I dont play for a long time, its too difficult to get back into, even if its just trying to get the collectibles I missed. Im looking forward to King Knight.

I mean, I feel like it stands up with the very best of the NES platformers that it draws inspiration from. I can understand that it might not have the same appeal if youre too young to have experienced that gaming generation, but its a top-notch throwback for those who did

I never id finish the main campaign in the 3DS version

I died so many times during Propeller Knight's stage I never bothered with the Tower >_>

I'd like to try the other modes, though

Definitely, the others might click with you better. Plague Knight took a good bit of getting used to, but controlling Specter Knight feels pretty natural to me so far
