Can you provide a non-biased source of this? I am pretty sure this was also twisted before in regards to the GOP killing chip.

Edit: Nevermind. Already found it.

"A big chunk of the White House package -- $7 billion -- will go toward unspent funds in the Children's Health Insurance Program, a move that Democrats are seizing upon and will likely use as an attack against Republicans in the midterm elections.
Republicans, however, argue the money was leftover spending and would have been shifted over to fund other aspects of government if it wasn't rescinded. The CBO projected the rescission would not affect payments to states for the program over the next decade, nor would the number of individuals with insurance be affected."

It is literally the exact same thing that was tried to be twisted before just a few months ago.

Serious answer? Because the media is obsessed with covering what Trump does/says 24/7 and he's focusing on conspiracy theories or kneeling or other grievance stuff.

Granted, it's not wrong that the press has to give some attention to what he says given he's the President, but I mean... they're just ignoring everything else. Hell, IIRC, there was an article noting that the NYT (I think) has stopped quoting Congressional Dems in a bunch of stories and that the Sunday shows are primarily getting pundits to represent the Democratic side over elected officials, if even that.

unfortunately (and ironically?) i don't recall the article in question

Show me.

While I use sources from both ends of the spectrum, they are all within a spectrum of reason.

Using a Democratic Twitter as a source is probably closer to infowars/occupy democrats in bias than any source I use.

I wasn't unaware of the source, but considering it's the official account from the House Appropriations Committee's Democrats (y'know... Congress) I don't find it a meaningful distinction from quoting from a member of Congress. Plus, y'know, the image of the actual vote taken in the House.

If it was some non-government affiliated Democratic group, yeah, I would have passed on posting that.

The problem is that the rescissions bill does NOT defund CHIP based on the source I just gave you. It is just taking away the excess money in the CHIP account that is not being used and it has no bearing on its funding or the program.

That is why it is not big news.

You could switch even back in the days of preexisting conditions (though that itself made it more complicated). It was when you lapsed in coverage that it was a problem.

Here are the results of the Ontario provincial election

Conservatives - 76 (40.50%)
NDP - 40 (33.56%)
Liberals - 7 (19.59%)
Green - 1 (4.60%)

2014 Map
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e8/Ontario_Provincial_Election_2014_Riding_Results_Map.svg

2018 Map
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/73/Ontario_general_election_2018_-_Results_by_Riding.svg

The Conservatives were able to grab a majority while the previously ruling Liberals lose party recognition status meaning they will be treated as independents. The Conservatives may give them an exemption and lower the threshold of 8. The Greens make history and win their first seat in Ontario.

My legal name is James Anthony, but I go by Tony.

If a teacher refused to call me Tony, I'd be fucking furious.

But these people never refuse my kind of name change, even though it takes literally as much effort.

It's not about him discriminating. It's about the school discriminating against him by compelling him to speak things he feels are contrary to his beliefs. That it's a public school makes his case far stronger, because the First Amendment doesn't apply against private businesses.

No. I'm a lawyer and in my opinion, this would be the framework it would be analyzed under. I don't think his claim would be strong because calling someone by their chosen name doesn't sound like protected free speech to me, but maybe with a couple more Trump appointees it might be possible?

To give some examples, if a public school required teachers to tell their classes that Christianity is the one true faith, that would be obviously unconstitutional. Same if they were required to tell students that Christianity is wrong. If they had to tell their class to support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, that's again obviously unconstitutional.

If they banned teachers from using the name "Crooked Hillary" and required them to use "Hillary Clinton"? There are of course educational reasons teachers should not be using the classroom as a venue to campaign. Harder case.

If the child wanted to sue him, sure. But if he's suing the school for compelled speech, they're going to look at it under the framework of law for free speech cases. Which he may/probably will still lose under, and I wouldn't call it obvious.

Remember, the Supreme Court literally struck down a law against child labor once. Because it regulated manufacturing, rather than "commerce." Yes, that was an extremely conservative court, but we are one justice away from the most conservative court since that era.
