Theyre a plague with some poor business practices and are too expensive. (Despite that, I am typing this on an iPad right now.) The only reason I have an iPhone too is because whenever mom upgrades her phone, I get her old one. I have never had a brand new Apple product.

I refuse to buy any of their products. They're evil, they're overpriced, and they basically stand for everything I hate (marketing being more important than value, quality, and/or technical specs).
It especially infuriates me that they can game the stupid tax system we have to claim all their American sales actually occurred in Ireland and avoid paying billions in taxes through inversion.

I also find it "amusing" that MS was the target of lawsuits alleging a monopoly in the '90's, yet modern day Apple is more rich/powerful than MS was back then, and unlike MS, apple actually keeps everything under their own roof (while as other companies produce PCs and other products that use Windows OS)....yet they aren't being subjected to the same scrutiny as MS was back then.

Had an Apple IIe and a IIc. Tried out a Mac, called customer service to find out how to get into the Command Line Interface, was told that the Mac has no CLI, only the mouse-driven GUI. I gave up on Apple at that point. I still have a IIc for nostalgia gaming, but haven't touched another Apple product since.

Apple is basically technology for people who don't know how you use technology, costing three times as much as it should. I have zero interest, and will probably spend the rest of my life never buying a single Apple product again.

I used to use Macs back in high school (in the early-to-mid 90s), back when it was actually the far better platform for desktop publishing and graphic design work (which is what I was using it for), but the PC has long since caught up (and arguably surpassed it), so it has no real value to me at all anymore.

I don't own any apple products and the last product I did buy from them was the iphone4 years ago. I'm all android now and like it way better. I think their products are too expensive for what you get and too locked/restricted. Might be different now but meh don't miss anything apple. My wife has a iPod touch ( newer one ) and is already having issues with the screen going black and not turning back on. Overall meh.

I had to write a Windows iso to a USB using a mac once.

It would have been easier to use my hacked Wii. The UI was ok though. Definitely worth the extra $500.

They're insufferable to deal with. Their hardware is overpriced and even their top-of-the-line computers are designed to fail within a year or two, and then try to pass off the "refurbished" products they offer you as being better than new when they're second-hand junk with no warranty and even less expected lifetime. They operate illegally and bully their customers who can't afford to challenge them on it. I can't understand why anyone would want to use an Apple computer.

Steve Jobs always annoyed me. The fact he died because of choosing witch doctor remedies instead of real medicine was a fitting end based on my general opinion of him.

I have an iPhone because I had an iPod for games and then wanted to migrate the stuff over... I'm not a fan of Apple though, really. I hate the whole hipster movement with Starbucks and shit too. It's irrational that I even care, but I do.

Android had quad hd in Super AMOLED back in 2014. I never liked iPhone displays by comparison.

They just seem a little behind, and they charge a ton, too.

The only Apple device I own is an Apple TV. I prefer it over Roku or Fire TV or any other streaming device.

The one thing I really like about itunes is that you can actually download your movies and do custom sorting. For example, many franchise movies are out of order alphabetically. Batman Begins is under 'B' while The Dark Knight is under 'D'. With itunes you can custom sort them together so that The Dark Knight comes directly after Batman Begins. No other streaming device lets you do that, and it drives my OCD insane not being able to sort the movies how I want them sorted. So that's why I go with itunes/Apple TV over Roku or Fire TV.

A major example of everything wrong with the world.

I have a macbook, only because I feel I should know how to use one (due to my profession). I probably wouldn't buy one again when I need a new laptop. Other then that, haven't used an Apple product since the Apple II (and it's later revisions).

Edit: My 2012 Macbook Pro still runs fine and is going to be getting the next OS update later this year, my Series 0 Watch is just being made obsolete (but it will still work, it just doesn't get the newest update), and I love the AppleTV, in general their products last longer than I think people give them credit for - I have had to replace my Windows Laptops every two years (especially when I had HP laptops, screw HP with their motherboards that die after a year and a half)

Apple products will never be for gaming, and I have a gaming PC for that, but I have never had a problem with an Apple product that they didn't fix quickly.

Holy shit at all the generalizations and stereotyping done in this topic.

Its perfectly okay to have an opinion about a company and type of phone, but dont lump everyone who uses the phones into the same category like one size fits all.

I have an iPhone because its secure, minimalistic, and just works without provider or manufacturer bloatware. Yes, there are issues with performance as they age, but this is universal across all smartphones. As the phone ages, its performance will decrease.

I mean, is it not true that Apple products are largely about branding and that many people treat them as a status symbol? Some of the stuff people are saying is bullshit or exaggerated though. I've never owned Apple products of my own but having used them a lot in school and at work, they seem like pretty high quality. They just aren't nearly high quality enough to be worth the high price or the lack of (often very basic) features. There are plenty of Android phones and Windows PCs that are overpriced or pieces of shit, you just get a way better range of choices. The bad stuff about Apple stands out because you're limited to dealing with their bullshit if you want an Apple product.

Does anyone even still feel that way? I don't know any apple fans that treat it as status symbol, I know I certainly don't. On the contrary, I see mostly non-apple users claim people buy it as a status symbol.

Maybe at one point, when smart phones or tablets were brand new, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were still some fanboys who still feel that way (and also perhaps people in other countries), but I'd say for the most part, there are so many out there and so many options that it hasn't been a status symbol for some time.

Of course, that can vary in different areas - people in say, LA may have a different opinion than those Hartford, CT

I have an 8 or whatever the larger variant of it is called and its mostly because Android does the exact same thing as an iPhone but with an interface I like a bit less. The two operating systems all perform the same functions well enough. Price isnt really a sticking point cause theres not much difference between $20 a month and $25 a month to me

I think certain iPhones are a status symbol. Maybe it's not special to have ever owned one, but they've been around so long at this point. Lots of people have probably owned models that were outdated even at the time. It looks like a new iPhone 8 is $700 and the prices go up from there. I'd rather get an actual computer for that price. To be fair, I think the Galaxy phones are exorbitant too, but again, it's a matter of having other Android brands available.

Apple simply doesn't market to budget users or people who like customizing things. Actually, their marketing is kind of confusing now that I think about it. They're all about simplicity and ease of use but they price everything like it's for hardcore professionals. That's what strikes me as status symbol-y about them: They're expensive because they know they can get away with it.
