Season 6 was pretty solid, and almost done with 7, which is alright, but you can tell it suffered from the writers strike. It's such a short season despite everything goin on in it.

Just finished Scrubs. (Well, not season 9, but I don't plan on watching that tbh)

I really liked it, quality show. Definitely got repetitive at times, but overall, solid show.

Also, watched Tag today. Enjoyable comedy, nothing mind-blowing, but solid and enjoyable overall.

My theater is getting Won't You Be My Neighbor this weekend, and I'm hype as fuck. I think this'll be the first documentary I've ever seen in theaters.

It's already very much a front runner for Best Documentary at The Oscar's from everything I've heard.

Did anyone else see last year's winner, Icarus? I loved it, super well made.

I remember arguing with a friend of mine cause he was convinced that Faces Places or Last men in Aleppo would win. Icarus was just too topical, what with the Oscar's literally getting pushed back because of the Olympics.

Honestly not a huge Doc guy most of the time, but Icarus was fantastic.

sorry I didn't respond to this before.

anyway, I watched about three horror movies today

Jigsaw
Hellraiser: Judgement
The Killing of Sacred Deer (this one's more of a thriller)

the first two were lame, IMO, but I liked Killing of Sacred Deer.

edit: I'm about to watch It Comes at Night

I'm not personally a fan of Drive tbh. Never saw the appeal, always felt like other movies did what it was trying to do better, but to each their own.

Inglorious Basterds and There Will Be Blood are amazing though, I'm particularly a fan of There Will Be Blood. Still need to watch the others you mentioned though.

I liked Anchorman well enough, been years since I've seen it though.

Honestly, my favorite Will Ferrel movie is probably Megamind. It's my favorite animated comedy. It just hits all the right comedic notes for me, even if it's not necessarily the most original film.

So, just came back from watching Anchorman, and it was pretty nice. Cliche in a lot of aspects, but that doesn't stop it from having quality. It looks clean (for its kind at least), has some good lines, and most importantly, is entertaining. Oh, and it's short, too.

Megamind was actually legit. Been years since I've watched it though.

Haven't been up for watching a movie the past week, so I guess I'll just talk about some movies I plan on watching in the future:
-Do The Right Thing (1989) is probably next on my to-watch list, I've had it at the top of my list for like a year now, and I'd kinda forgotten about it until just recently.
-My Neighbor Totoro (1988) is on my list for the near future since I'm long overdue for watching any Studio Ghibli movies & unlike the rest of them, I at least saw the first half of MNT several years ago - it just seems like a good starting point too.
-Natural Born Killers (1994) is one I plan on watching eventually, if only for curiosity's sake - it holds the dubious honor of being among both of my parents' all-time most hated movies IIRC. The reviews are actually somewhat decent, but it doesn't really look like a great movie to me.
-I also plan on rewatching The Incredibles this week & seeing The Incredibles 2 in theaters right afterward.

Outside those I guess I'll definitely want to watch a lot more older movies (70's & earlier) this year, as well as completing David Lynch's discography (I have Dune & Inland Empire left to watch).

I haven't been super excited about movies recently, so I've decided to not watch as many movies per week. I'll still watch what I get from Netflix, of course. But I've been watching a movie every day that I could since 2014. It's time to slow down.

At least this'll let me catch up on some Netflix shows I've been meaning to watch.

I'd recommend giving Megamind a rewatch. I rewatched it about a year ago, and for the most part the humor held up, at least for my personal tastes.

Both of these are great, you should definitely check them out.

I have a huge list on my phone's Notepad of movies I really need to watch. Lots of more artsy films, been trying to get more and more into the "weirder" stuff. I really need to watch some David Lynch, since from what I hear the "weird stuff" is pretty much his thing.

I've also been slowly working my way through Best Picture winners. Just watched A Beautiful Mind for the first time yesterday, it was solid. It helped that I knew nothing going in, so I was legit kinda confused what was happening plot wise at first, so that helped.

As much as I adore films, I've never been able to do a movie day other than small burst where I have nothing going on. I probably watch 3-5 new-for-me movies a week on average, sometimes more, but usually in that range.

It's impressive that you've kept that pace for so long though.

Also, watched Jurassic World 2 yesterday.

It was... honestly, kinda bad. >_>

I actually enjoyed the first one as a dumb action film, but this one even the action wasn't the great, and there were a lot of cinematography and general filmmaking errors scattered throughout. Not to mention that literally every single fucking character except MAAAYYYBE one was a total fucking moron for plot convenience's sake, heroes and villains alike. Even the minor characters were idiots.

Jurassic Park 2 and 3 were pretty bad, but at least they were somewhat entertaining. I was legitimately bored at multiple points in this movie, and for a action/thriller movie with fucking dinosaurs, that's fucking bad.

Unless you're a super fan of the franchise and half to watch all of them regardless of quality, I'd say it's a definite skip, honestly, even if you have Moviepass. >_>

I finally watched Psycho for the first time. That was a pretty huge blank spot on the films I've watched, so glad I finally got around to it.

It's really good, I see why it's so highly praised, although it definitely shows its age in some regards, and pretty much all of the actual violence shots were... not great, at least by today's standards, but a lot of that's because of the time and various restrictions Hitchcock had when he made it.

I've now seen 2 Hitchcock films, Psycho and Rear Window. I honestly think I prefered Rear Window honestly between the 2. I already own Vertigo, The Birds, and North By Northwest as well, so I'll likely be watching those soon as well.

The confrontation towards the end was kinda lame, but other than that, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

So I recently bought the updated "1001 movies you must see before you die" that inclues films up to and through 2016, turns out I've only seen 106* of them, which was kinda disappointing. It does cover a huge, extremely varied selection of films on it though, with some really weird inclusions/exclusions.

Like, it had Independence Day and The Force Awakens, but not Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast, or Watership Down. And the only Studio Ghibli films included were Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies.

Also, it put the Toy Story Trilogy as one entry, even though it didn't do that for any other movies that had multiple entries from the same franchise. It had all 3 OT SW movies, but gave each a separate entry. Definitely sensed a bit of an anti-animation bias on the list, literally in The Jungle Book's entry it called the animation unimpressive. Like, wat? Maybe by now's standards, but it was pretty fantastic for the time, and for most other film entries it took age into account.

Not a perfect book, but still a decent checklist to go with. Especially for foreign films, that's what took my "score" down more than anything. I definitely need to beef up on my watching of foreign films.

Well, I'm personally a big believer that films should tackle serious issues and such, and this one in particular is about a very controversial subject. It's about the aftermath of a school shooting, specifically how the shooter's brother and former best friend deal with the aftermath when they return to school.

I'm trying to be careful to not touch on any primary stuff about the shooting itself/stuff like gun control, because that's not the purpose of the story. The main goal is to focus on how one deals with grief when they feel guilty for mourning the person they've lost.

So, difficult subject matter, but I'm really enjoying writing it so far. I feel like it's turning out well so far, but it's hard to say when talking about your own work. Only person I've had look over anything I've written so far is my GF, I'm kind of afraid to get other friends and such to look over it due to its inherently controversial nature, lol.

Not gonna lie, July seems like a pretty disappointing month as far as major releases go, especially compared to last month. The only film I'm even remotely interested in seeing off the top of my head is Ant Man and The Wasp, and even then, it's definitely not top of my list.

August things will start to pick up again, but still.
