Dude. At the end of the film the main protagonist is using his gravity gun to topple whole buildings on the Kaiju. How did he know if they had civilians in them or not? We're looking at trillions of dollars worth of damage and loss of life here.

Just feels like there's a ton of lazy writing here. They should have at least discussed the loss of civilian life somewhere. They discussed the loss of life for the armed forces, but never the civilians.
