The ginger. Forget the name of the film she's in (Brave?); it came out in the last decade or so, still haven't seen it.

On Family Guy. (Unless you mean Megara, who wasn't really a princess iirc?)

Well, they are beloved animated characters, not that much different from any others. Plus Disney markets the shit out of them so... people are going to be into them.

Yeah, but neither was Mulan, and she's still in the picture.

I personally was wondering where Nala, Leia and Shuri were.

Like it or not they all technically count or at one point counted as Disney Princesses right?

was moana even a princess?

Pocahontas was the daughter of the chief, which is close enough to being a princess. Belle and Cinderella married into it, but that's been considered good enough for as long as "Disney Princess" has been a thing. I believe Moana gets explicitly called a princess (though that might just have been Maui being patronizing rather than any more formal context), and is also the daughter of the chief.

Technically, yes. Tiana's also another example of a princess by marriage.

Yeah, but neither was Mulan, and she's still in the picture. And besides, Hercules probably isn't as popular as the movies those princesses appeared in, and she might be too old to appeal to the younger demographic, young adults, and those "hipsters" who still enjoy making a big deal about Disney movies... <<';

Well, Mulan is Asian so.... diversity? >_> Or idk, maybe it's also because she headlines her film whereas Megara is more of a supporting character.

Pocahontas = Daughter of chief, so same thing
Belle = Married ruler
Moana = Daughter of chief

I'll let Maui sum this one up, though:
