today.

After searching the same trash can 3 times, screaming obscenities in an apartment building with thin walls whilst slapping his beer can across the room and shaking from withdrawls...almost in tears. Is it addictive for some at least, i wonder?

o.k. wise guys. I've asked him why he was shaking before, and he said it was from no weed.,,maybe he just wanted money...in which case this topic is useful for something now. I definitely will support his habit less in the future.

Marijuana isn't physically addictive, as in modifying your body's chemical balance.

It can be psychologically addictive though, but pretty much anything can be.

This shit that CE believes should stop. There are certain acitivities that are addicting. No, not just anything can be addicting. Drugs, including marijuana can be addicting and serious problems for people. It's like saying cocaine and meth isn't addicting because there is no physical addiction. Meth withdrawals consists of being sleepy and tired. Just like marijuana withdrawals consists of very minor effects, compared to actual physically addicting drugs like alcohol.

I think I got the physically vs psychological backwards, but other than that, I'm pretty sure that's what the research gravitates towards.

If it helps, I don't actually use weed or anything THC related.

Nah you got it right. Didn't mean to only quote you, as you weren't the only one claiming that. But there are people who just cannot stop smoking to get a job, or who can't help risk driving completely baked. There is definitely an addicting component.

Energy drinks isn't a real addiction. Addiction is a compulsion and an addict must continue use despite negative consequences. People who drink too much caffeine don't tend lose their jobs over it or flunk out of school because of it.

THC is only habitually addictive. Physiological dependency has never been proven.

Meanwhile, simple ethanol is one of the very few chemicals wherein withdrawal is known to be lethal. Coming off of heroin is pure hell, but it wont kill you. Booze, however, will totally do that.

Vastly less, and also vastly less.

Even LSD is less a disaster than ethanol.
Tobacco is catastrophic mostly because of a weird process wherein highly radioactive polonium sticks to the tobacco leaf

Nobody is overstating. However there are people underestimating by claiming that because it has no significant withdrawals (it does have some withdrawal with intense use), it cannot be addictive. There are definitely people who have an addiction, whether you believe it or not.

And of course, effects vary from person to person

And it goes away pretty quickly

And yes almost anything can be psychologically addictive, but weed is a tough one to stop if youve really formed a habit. At least its not particularly harmful, outside of some memory loss when abused.

As someome with a former addiction to it that has also been physically addicted to alcohol, MJ can 100% give you withdrawal symptoms if abused and you become psychologically dependent on it. Insomnia, extreme irritability and mood swings, depression (sometimes to the point where getting out of bed is difficult), and lack of appetite are all realities for a small number of people trying to quit.

Alcohol withdrawal is a lot more "in your face" and apparent considering the physical addiction vs. mental, but to say no one can have problems from too much MJ use is ridiculous.
