The rules are simple: The best of N64 vs the best of PS1. Each battle will have one victor, the winner survives and fights again until they are eliminated. Should be a good match up. Vote for whichever game you like best.

New Rule: If a combatant wins 5 rounds, it will take a 5 round rest.

Misfit Opinion: Xenogears is on rest, and N64 needs to get its ass in gear. I didn't play much of Mario Kart 64 as a kid, falling off rainbow road and dealing with bullshit rubberband AI were not some of my fondest memories. I generally played the battle mode more than the racing. I had ape escape but barely played it, I don't remember liking it.

Tough one for me. I really liked Ape Escape when it came out. But I only played it a little at my cousin's house when I was younger. I did play it later on PSP, and it was fun. But I'd have to say Mario Kart. I played that with my cousins all the time. We could play the same levels over and over and have so much fun. And I love the battles, too. When it comes to games, I'm usually more of a multiplayer games type of person, though...

So, if it gets down to OoT and PS1 still has 6+ games left, does PS1 win via mercy rule?
Cause even if OoT at that point got through 5 PS1 games, it'd have to go on a 5 round rest at that point...

I think that's fair, this is system vs. system for their best games. If the results are that lopsided going to the end, N64 deserves to lose. if that's not done, this whole contest was utterly pointless and you should've just skipped right to OoT vs. FF7.

Easy choice here. Mario Kart 64 is home to many memories (both in my childhood and in recent years) and just a blast to play while my only experience with the first Ape Escape game (outside of the PSP remake) is a demo I got as a kid... oh and did I mention I couldn't play it because I didn't have a dual shock controller? Yeah that sucked.

Not really. At least, I don't think so. The 5 round rest was just move it up 5 spaces. Since it can't rest, it would basically have to keep going. Cause it would be like if we got to Goldeneye and it won 5 in a row. It couldn't go up 5 spaces, so that would mean that if any of the top games won 5, they couldn't have a 5 round rest.

Either way, there was no way he could just skip to the last two. That also doesn't make sense. The game could technically end before that. It would be much of a battle of the systems if it was just the 2 games he thinks should be at the top of the list. Also, the new rule was added only after Suikoden 2 was crushing every game early on. So, even if he agreed with your statement, it would've have mattered since the rule was added like a couple rounds in.
