Yep, most women want a guy that is at least as tall as them,with their pie in the sky being a guy who is 6 foot or above. It's most definitely shallow but no point in getting upset about it, just be aware of it it and move on. Dudes disqualify girls all the time for shallow reasons/ things that they can't change as well.

i've been with my girlfriend for 4 years. she has never once seen me stand up straight, and as a result she does not know my true height (5'4"). normally i will fake a sports injury (basketball, obviously) and so when we go for walks or go out somewhere I am hunched over. Would you say you know as many women that like shorter guys as you know that like tall guys? Not just are OK with it, but seeing a 5' guy makes their gaze stay?
I've met girls that liked dad bods, lanky bods, chubby bods, etc, but their tastes still overlapped with "and the guy is taller than me".(IE Venn diagrams of dad bods can overlap with tall guys, but venn diagrams of tall guys won't overlap with short guys)

I wouldn't say that there is an equal amount in my experience, but enough that are vocal about it that it was a bit surprising. I'm also around a lot of Hispanic people and Mexican women tend to be VERY short. Like sometimes not even breaching 5'0" - to them 5'4" is an ideal height for a mate.

On the other side of the coin, I mostly hear very tall women only going after tall men. That makes sense to me.

Conversely, most of the shorter girls/women I know (under 5" 3") are keen on finding tall guys too.. like over 5' 10". Would you say 30 percent of the girls you know want short guys? Even if only two thirds are keen on taller guys, that still means more customers than product so to speak (as the average US height is 5' 9")

The fact of the matter is that only about 14.5% of men in the US are 6 foot or taller, only ~4% are 6' 2 or taller. So their chances of finding someone based on that criteria alone are pretty limiting. When you actually start to qualify this population of people, (whether or not they are physically attractive, age, income, relationship status, whether or not he even likes you or not / is looking for what you want/is he a good match personality/values wise) their chances get even more ridiculously small.

Too many of them don't realize this though.

Women being picky about a boyfriend's height is kind of a counterpart to men being picky about a woman's youth. It's not really equal, but it's close.

Most men prefer a younger female partner and there's not really anything a woman can do to reverse aging. She just has to get over it and adapt her tastes in men (ie: give up on trying to get the 10/10 Adonises with status + $$$ and aim for guys who will still put up with dating a woman over 30).

The ideal men that most women dream about never have to settle for a girlfriend over the age of 30. They have the means and power to attract any little young twinky they want. And those attributes in significant degrees can compensate for the man's aging over time. Women like wealth and status, sometimes enough that they will overlook a man being advanced in age.

Men, however, do not operate on similar priorities when selecting life partners. Most men basically don't give a shit about a woman's monetary attributes or her social standings as much; they prioritize her physical beauty and to a smaller extent her charm (the appealing aspects of her personality). So men are much less likely to ever settle down with an older woman even if she's got an stunning reputation and loaded bank accounts.

On another note, notably tall women aching to find boyfriends have always appeared self-defeating to me when they still bother to limit their selection based on height. They should realize that they are not the average woman and so should instead adapt their dating preferences outside of the same box. Short/average sized women don't encounter the same hurdles that a really tall woman would trying to find a man. Remaining superficial about one physical attribute a man has can cause a lot of otherwise amazing, gorgeous, talented men to be tossed into the rejection pile. And that's even more detrimental when you're a woman that's already disadvantaged by some men being too intimidated to approach...

It's kind of funny how the majority of women prioritizing male height consequently also negatively impacts the dating success of the tall minority of women by imposing an inefficient standard that disproportionately favors the majority and hinders the minority. A tall woman who ignores those standards and thinks for herself is more likely to find success.
