I was moving and somehow the power cord for my TV got lost in the process. The TV is a Westinghouse UW39T7HW. I went on Amazon and got a third party power cord (I called the company and they no longer make this model TV, so it appears one from the original manufacturer would not be possible) that says "Antoble AC/DC Adapter For Westinghouse UW39T UW39T7HW 39-Inch LED LCD HDTV Charger Power Supply." On the back of the TV it says Input: 19.0VDC 3.42A. On the transformer on the power cord that I purchased it says Output: 19V 4.74A. So my questions are 1) does this mean the power cord is incompatible and I should not try plugging it in, or do I just not understand how power cords work? 2) if I do plug it in and it is the wrong one, will it just break the TV or will it potentially explode/go up in flames?

3 things you need to worry about when figuring out power supplies:

-Voltage: important to match, but it looks like you have the same so that's fine.
-Amperage: that's basically how much the TV actually draws, so it's fine to have a power supply that is capable of supplying more amps. The TV just won't draw as much as the power supply is capable of supplying. You just wouldn't want to have a TV that draws MORE than the power supply can give.
-Polarity: Assuming this is a circular plug? Some connectors have positive on the outside and negative on the inside ring, while others are reversed. This is the only thing left that can actually damage your TV so make sure they match before plugging it in.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it is a circular plug. If I'm understanding you correctly and everything I told you is correct, it sounds like this plug that I bought should be able to work then, right?

Whenever it was GameFAQs let you change your name? It's still the same original account, though. I'm thinking its probably been five years at this point.

Yeah although what I was talking about with polarity is this:

You have to make sure the TV and the adapter have the same version of that insignia. It'll have that branded on it somewhere. Although since it's for a similar model you're PROBABLY good.
