And by that, I mean, pretty much 'act' like I know how to fight...because a lot of the time I only know the basic skills and sometimes combos come up and I don't know how I activate them but I do...and tutorials talk about information that I should already know...

oh and this is me coming back a break of the game...I like the game itself, just amazing how much of a chore it is to learn the gameplay...><

Spam Anchor Shot, and let the rest of your dudes do the work.
Seems to work for me. Break -> Topple -> Launch -> Smash never freakin works, nor does getting a combo tree past the second stage.

Yeah, I could never get that to work but for the most part, I just spam all my moves, get specials unlocked and use them...

also, the roles are kinda weird.

Why doesn't HLR have any healing abilities? >< At least Tora is doing SOME tanking...otherwise I'm not doing any healing except for catching potions.

The only reason it wouldn't work, outside of specific bosses (it actually works on some) and a few random big enemies, is that you're doing it wrong. And I'm not tryna be a dick about it, it's just a fact. If you go in order and set your AI up with the proper skills, they will make it a point to switch over to the right blade in order to continue the combo.

The nice thing too is it actually says "IMMUNE" if it won't work on a certain enemy, so no need to try over and over, whereas a failed "break" just said "RESIST" or something like that, so you at least know it works.

Full list of blade combos. These can be a bit harder to execute because sometimes you need AI to have 2 or 3 level specials available when they aren't charged enough yet.

Blade Combos and Driver Combos are important to understand, especially later in the game when you're more capable of pulling them off. So satisfying.

One thing you CAN probably bullshit is accessories and chips.

Especially chips

In general, highest power wins. But occasionally things give you massive block rate boosts to tanks, or maybe a "healing abilities heal 20% more" ability. But it's really easy to judge.

Accessories can be a little trickier because there are so many, but a lot of them are worthless.

What confuses me is the wording in the skills.

Like its not clear if you use it to cause ___ or use it when the enemy is afflicted with ___.

Chips are startlingly simple. Is 80 power on your 1000 power blade better than 30+% crit or block? Oh, no? Great, you can make value judgments!

Really, with XB2 all you have to do is land your first hit, move slightly, land it again, and continue until you have your skills usable, then continue to do that till you get your special.

Compared to XBX it's brain dead in terms of cheesing it.

If you are still early in the game it doesn't really matter too much what you do. If you are a little later, try to have at least one active blade with break, topple, launch, and smash; preferably spread over all three characters. Once you have a good spread of elemental blades, learn to follow the element chain thing in the corner to put orbs on enemies so you can decimate them with a chain attack.

but I have a few HLRS that don't have any healing skills.

There's a lot more positive to this game than negative. I like the side quests as well as developing my blade. Fights are pretty fun even if I still need to figure out the sequences like the others said.
