I missed Spyro the first time around so I'd have to vote Crash. However I plan on getting the trilogy so I can see what Spyro is like. Used of course, because GS deserves the money more than Act does.

i never like crash. i think it's because he was compared to mario. But mario gameplay was so much better. Mario Worlds was so much better than Crash and then Mario 64 below crash out of the water. oh look you run towards the screen it's totally new gameplay... lion king and toy story for the snes did it.

Spryo was for younger kids, but i like the sense of adventure. it felt like adventure game like if diddy kong racing was a platformer. Everyone i meet in the game was really engaging and i felt like i was achieving something.

MediEvil i could neve get into it. it's was felt like a cross between ghost and goblins and gauntlet. I do love the comedy and i'm going to buy the remake once it comes out.

The only Crash game I've played is the Wrath of Cortex game on the Gamecube(the best version of the game which had the fastest loading times).
So I'm kinda hyped to finally get to play the original Crash trilogy next week on the Switch.

I prefer Spyro.

3D collect-a-thons are better than 3D linear platformers imo.

Crash. It's really close but I'd have to say the racing games put Crash over the edge.

The crash games were much better

Spyro games were collectathon with almost no challenge and the character is almost as lame as sonic the hedgehog

Another vote for Crash here! Despite owning a PS1 back when it was Sony's latest console, I didn't own any of the Crash or Spyro games outside of demos for Crash 2 and Warped and Spyro 1. Many years later (as in around 2011-2012), I found a PS1 at a Goodwill and eventually got my hands on the games I had demos of all those years ago. Spyro 1 was pretty good but it also felt way too easy for someone in their 20s to be playing. I have nothing against easy games but this was almost on auto-pilot levels of easy. Not even getting a 100% completion rating felt very challenging. Meanwhile, although certainly not the toughest platformer out there, Crash 2 was a blast from the beginning to near the end (not a fan of those jetpack stages) and Warped was even better with the gameplay variety la Earthworm Jim 2. Recently, I got CTR: Crash Team Racing and it's definitely the best PS1 kart racer I own. Altogether, they're three of my favorite PS1 games and have since been replayed multiple times.

Even after the PS1 era, I think Crash faired better than Spyro. I think The Wrath of Cortex and what I've played of Twinsanity are good follow-ups and, while not as good as CTR, Crash Nitro Kart is definitely an alright kart racer. It wasn't until Crash Tag Team Racing that I felt the series went down the toilet but, even then, I'll gladly play that over the awful as sin Legend of Spyro series (I know those games have their fans but oh God why?) or the boring as a documentary on ketchup Skylanders games. I do own Spyro: A Hero's Tail and remember liking what I played so there is that at least.

Enjoyed both back in the day and it's great how Crash offers essentially 2D gameplay despite being a 3D world while Spyro had the true 3D world you actually got to explore. One felt like an arcade experience and one felt like and adventure game. I started with the arcades and prefer the character of Crash and his cast so give him the W. After going through N Sane Trilogy, it confirmed that Crash Bandicoot truly is my favorite platform mascot character and series and it wasn't just nostalgia running me since I enjoyed the hell out of the games and got immersed in them fully even in the modern age.

Back in the day, Sonic, Crash and Banjo Kazooie were my platforming trio with Spyro and Donkey Kong Country following closely after. I also really enjoyed Glover (N64 version) and MediEvil back then. I was thinking of including the Mega Man Legends series but that's more action-adventure with platforming than a true platformer.

Not to sound edgy or anything but even as a kid I actually never liked Mario much. Super Mario World especially always bored me to presentation to music and I have always HATED Yoshi. Obnoxious ass character who isn't cute at all with TERRIBLE sound effects. I killed the crap out of him as a kid when I played SMW due to how annoying I found him haha.

Even now I don't really vibe with Mario and hated most the character design (save Rosalina whose design I love) and character sound effects it would start becoming known for with SM64 and beyond although, I can still enjoy SMB1-3 (only the US SMB2 is counted here) and I did enjoy the NSMB games due to being a return back to the classic style as well as the SML games on GameBoy which were made in the same style as the first 3 games.

Spyro

I've only played the first entry in each, and both for the first time within the last three years, and I enjoyed Spyro a lot more than Crash.

Play Crash 2 as it's leagues better than the first one and the best in the series. It's insane how much it outperforms the original in every way even down to how it controls and in such a short span of time. Spyro 2 is the best in its series. I'd give the nod to Crash 2 over Crash 2 but Spyro 1 is definitely much easier to enjoy than Crash 1.
