My fianc wanted to get married at Disney world but it was going to be like 40k min for what we wanted to do

I mean, Id have the money next year but i just cant justify it for one day, all i really need is an event space, an open bar, and a cold one to crack open with the boys. Well, and my fianc.

I was sleeping because I'm Australian

Her sister spent 60k and made about 65k in gifts

We don't live in Bosnia lol

We're not going into debt for it

It's free alcohol for everyone and any alcohol - not just cheap beer and spirits

Honeymoon is.booked as well which cost us about 20k, that's all paid for

We earn about 150k combined.

Average cost of wedding in Australia is 40k now anyway.

Thanks for your concerns but I'm not poor, we can afford this.

We get married in 4 months.

It's totally worth. I can't wait. It's going to be incredible and really unique.

I had an expensive wedding and it was a complete waste of money.

3-5 years later, you wont even remember the day.

Ive been married for almost a decade and I have fond memories of ours.

People are salty. Sounds like you cleared a lot for the wedding rather quickly. You both must have great income. Congrats

I'm fairly certain at this point the topic was only made knowing it would get people bitching about how stupid you'd have to be to spend that much on a wedding and stuff.

Haven't picked food. We have a Bosnian singer who will mix western music in as well. We have a belly dancer, some dancers with drums. Haven't picked our menu yet. The venue is about 18k for food, drinks are separate. It's right on the river in the city. Beautiful location.

Lol at the haters. Some cultures, like Bosnians, are really big on weddings and they give a lot of gifts.

Not everyone is American you know. Like I said, my half contributed $15k. We only had 100 people and only my side gave cash gifts. About $300 per person. Yes it happens.

Bosnians actually calculate the cost of their seat based on location, amount of guests, the family and will cover the cost and then give a little more on top. And them, when you go to THEIR wedding, you're expected to at the very least match.

So people coming to our wedding will be like, oh it's in the city, 140 people, really nice family... Probably $350 to cover my seat, so I'll give $400-$500 depending on how close they are.

$49K on a wedding.

Dude, if you and your fiance were remotely intelligent, that money would have been utilized in a more productive and beneficial way.

Keep in mind, something like 51% of marriages end in divorce.

Oh yeah we know it's a waste of money and not intelligent at all.

But hey, fuck it. We'll make at least 30k cash on the night and it'll be all good.

Luckily, you'll never be part of that 51% for obvious reasons.

Happily married for 4 years now and we've been together in total of 14 years.

We spent our money buying our first home instead of have a huge and lavish wedding.

A wedding is almost always the dream of the wife. She's been conditioned from the time she is a little girl to have to be a bride. Ever see little girls playing with their doll houses? They always act out a scenario of getting married.
