Does this cover the use of Stingray devices? I didn't see anything about that.

Also, the practice of "parallel construction" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_construction) isn't covered. Police have no problem gathering evidence without a warrant (inadmissible) as long as they can build a case with separate evidence.

For example, they *know* that someone is stealing cars and have found the chop shop by tracking them with a Stingray device. They then listen to phone calls to determine when a sale of stolen parts is happening. They wait near the location of the sale, and then bam, "suspicious activity", and "accidentally" uncover a stolen car ring.

This is anecdotal, but it's exactly how it goes down in many cases.

Yeah a warrant to check the actual phone doesn't matter when the FBI is reading all your texts in the first place!

It's amazing that we're suppose to take the court seriously when this shit almost always comes down to party lines instead of "well what does the constitution say?"

Meh. Just wait until Ginsburg retires and Trump gets to replace her by another Scalia and they'll reverse the shit out of this.

I can't credibly source this, because these illegal tactics are intentionally hidden, to circumvent the law.

Ginsburg would have to die. She won't retire while Trump is in office.

Ginsburg won't retire under Trump. She'd rather die on the bench than allow him to replace her.

She's 85 years old. I'm sure she would love to be able to stay until Trump is out of office, but it might not be possible.

Hence why it'll take death for her to leave under his Presidency, guaranteed.

Yeah, and a good lawyer can get the thief off using the poison tree doctrine. That is to say "Any evidence obtained using inadmissible evidence is itself inadmissible."

Fair enough. This story came from a Sheriff's Deputy in a densely populated county, who was railroaded by his superiors for questioning the legality of this practice. I said that I can't credibly source this because, for all intents and purposes, it's hearsay.

I cannot provide further evidence than that.
