Does this cover the use of Stingray devices? I didn't see anything about that.
Also, the practice of "parallel construction" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_construction) isn't covered. Police have no problem gathering evidence without a warrant (inadmissible) as long as they can build a case with separate evidence. For example, they *know* that someone is stealing cars and have found the chop shop by tracking them with a Stingray device. They then listen to phone calls to determine when a sale of stolen parts is happening. They wait near the location of the sale, and then bam, "suspicious activity", and "accidentally" uncover a stolen car ring. This is anecdotal, but it's exactly how it goes down in many cases. --- Torn between two minds. Is either correct? Perhaps together.....but how? Can it be done? ... Copied to Clipboard!
