So as you know, ocean levels are rising, hunger is rising, population is rising, we dont have enough water to feed a growing population a couple of decades down the track, etc

So basically, we take the water from the ocean and then clean it and add it to our clean water.
Oceans will lower back down to normal
We will have enough water to feed our growing population
The only thing we lose is the ice caps and stuff
